The Ferry Building has a wonderful history from its start in 1896 as a terminal for ferries bringing travelers from Oakland where the trains ended through its time as the World Trade Center and its renovation and restoration to its current status as a beautiful upscale farmer's market, dining destination, event space, office building and, of course, ferry terminal. It has survived two major earthquakes and is the crown jewel along the waterfront. Located at the start of Market Street on the Embarcadero, It is easily accessible on the F Line Trolley car and is just a one mile walk to Fisherman's Wharf. On Tuesday's and Saturday's there is an expanded Farmer's Market with fresh produce from the San Joaquin Valley. This is a must see when yo come to San Francisco.
