The Morgan did a major renovation in the early 90s and then closed from '03 for nearly three years and completely redid things. This musuem is 1st and foremost a library, with collections that go back to the Guttenberg Bible - it has one of three copies.

This is not for kids, unless there is a specific exhibit, such as Babar from a few years back. The bookstore is heavy on art work and art books; the restaurant is a good place for brunch and lunch and serves dinner on Friday evenings.

The building on 36th Street is the library built for Morgan himself; his house, on the NE corner, was torn down by his son and replaced with an annex to the library.

There is a great deal of scholarship done at this library.
