At the del Carmine square, a large rectangular square at San Frediano neighbourhood of Florence, unfortunately used as car parking too, you can see several religious buildings. The most important is the Santa Maria del Carmine church (XIII century), it has a not striking look, I could say anonymus look, however this church hides a true treasure named Cappella Brancacci, decorated by the frescos of Masaccio, one of the best painters of florentine Renaissance. These frescos were ordered by Felice Brancacci, a very rich merchant of silk, to Masolino da Panicale (1383-1440) and to his pupil Masaccio (1401-1428). The frescos were finished by Flippino Lipi after 1480.
