where should I stay in Honolulu? 1st trip there--50th wedding anniversary!

City: Honolulu

State: Hawaii

Country: United States

There are many choices as I am sure you are becoming aware of!
Oahu is a very diverse island with a lot of various types of activities and things to do but knowing what type of things you guys are into makes a world of difference.
Waikiki is a popular destination because it offers everything within walking distance from your hotels and most all activties will pick you up free from that area.
Downside is that since it is so popular it is also very crowded with tourists from all over the world.
There is Turtle Bay which is located on the Northshore and is very nice but also very isolated being over an hour away from most any other destinations. A very romantic place to go though for a second honeymoon as you mentioned. A rental car would a good idea if staying here.
There is also the "Homestay" option like my wife and I offer from our wonderful house in Kailua. Research Kailua a little and I think you will see what is so special about the "Windward Side" of the island and Kailua especially.
If interested in this option your can read more about the services we offer and a price breakdown at
Whatever choice you do make you will not regret coming to Hawaii for this getaway.
The aloha spirit of the islands is unmatched anywhere else in the world and you will always leave feeling a better person than when you came. Part of the magic of the Hawaiian Islands!!!
My husband and I like the Moana Surfrider. It is an old hotel on Waikiki Beach, with a lovely verandah, on site dining indoors or outdoors, and a beautiful old banyan tree sheltering an oceanside court. Drinks are served in the court. You can wander right out into the ocean, or swim in the luxurious pool.

You could spend your entire anniversary trip there and feel you had experience Hawaii. There is also the rest of the island, with waterfalls, lovely bays, gorgeous beaches not quite as touristy.

For a special trip, head over to Kailua Bay. Happy Anniversary!
