Sri Lanka actually consists of 30 + various ethnic groups.

Though the Majority of 85% are Singhalees followed by Tamils of 10%, the rest is mainly Muslims and Burghers.

Sri Lanka also has communities of Ja, Malay populations.

In addition, there are remains of Many other ethnic groups from which most are from India. But, there also are a considerable number of Dutch community living in the eastern part of Sri Lanka - mainly in Baticaloa and Niger community in Trinco. While the Dutch were occupying the lands in the 17th century, Niger community was brought in by King Kashyapa in 1,200 A.D. and also by British to fight their wars.
