I reckon that Bkk is a good place for a teaching job. For accomodation Khao San/Banglamphu is a good place as you will find all sorts of acco as well as cheap eateries etc etc., and it's a good place to commute to other parts of the city.
Upon arrival buy yourself a Bkk Post/The Nation newspaper. In the "Classified" section you will find daily ads rearching for language teaching jobs. A Bachelor's degree in any field would help. Apart from that, I suggest you walk into renown foreign language schools as Berlitz, Inlingua, ECC, and apply in person. Good luck!
I know one nice place in BKK and cheap which in the city , only 1200B per person and 1300 for 2 persons . its Call Far East Inn , Tel.+66 (0) 2 255 4041
Its near Centralworld SHopping mall , Near Central Chidlom and near BTS sky train
but if you would like to stay cheaper i thik you can search in google becoz i'm not sure (^o^)

For Bangkok try here:
Hi Lee. obviously its not the "right time" to come to The Kingdom and search for a job.
1/ Bangkok for the job - your accomodation questions depends of your "pocket money"!
2/ Phuket is for fun (holidays) and rather expensive.
no its not safe really!! cause its gonna have a big protest this week still i just came to stay at pattaya cause its not safe in Bangkok right now.....
If you wanna come better come after this month though thats my opinion cause i live here.
Could you let me know more specific details...whic area do you prefer? How long will you plan to stay? And how cheap do you want it to be? There are lots of cheap places but I don't know if it going to fits you well as the room could be very noisy or dirty ...
There are some cheap places around Khaosan Road where you can find guest houses and hotel to stay.
Stay in a hotel for a few days.
Find a job first.
Then find long stay accommodation. You don't want to get a place then have to commute upto a hour to get there everyday.

Condos (one room with air con, balcony, en suite bathroom, no kitchen) can be found from as little as 2,000 to 2,500 THB per month, not inc. water and electricity bills.

Try for info on teaching.
