I'd like to visit San Francisco this summer and would like to know where the best parks, museums and restaurants are.

City: San Francisco

State: California

Country: United States

Hi John,

Delighted to hear that you're coming to San Francisco! First of all, know that we have many wonderful museums...The Museum of Modern Art, the Asian Art Museum, the Jewish Museum and the Museum of the African Diaspora...all downtown near Market Street. The DeYoung Museum and the Academy of Science Museum are both in Golden Gate Park which is gorgeous and through which you can also walk through the Strybring Arboretum. You can take the N Judah Muni train to 9th St. and walk over...easy.

Another park to see would be the Presidio....right next to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Now then...restaurants...there are more than 4000 but would I would suggest is getting to areas you North Beach (Italian), Chinatown, the Ferry Building(along the Embarcadero), the Mission District... and finding restaurants that appeal to you. Another thing is to look at the Zagat guide...they are very accurate in their reviews and pricing, ambience and all of it.

Good luck and let me know if I can help you further!

Presidio Park is one of my favorite with great views of the Golden Gate on the Pacific side. Also consider Marin Headlands: Rodeo Beach on the other side of the Golde Gate. I read very nice things about Angel Island State park, so I'm planing to go there in the spring. If you enjoy hiking check out this page: great info with more than 60 parks in the bay area.
Hi John,
Dolores Park is located in the heart of the Mission and is a great place to site and people watch on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Alta Plaza in Pacific Heights is also nice. There is a playground for kids, quiet grassy spots to site and read, and also tennis courts. Lastly, Buena Vista Park in the Haight is a short climb upward and at the top you have an amazing view of the city. Great if you want something a bit more active.
