Any suggestions for a small modern luxury hotel in San Francisco?

I want to take my wife there for our 5th year anniversary. I don't mind if its expensive as long as it's nice.

City: San Francisco

State: California

Country: United States

I have stayed at Huntington Hotel (on top of Nob Hill). It is a small personal hotel. It has a great indoor pool and spa -- which only adults can use so no kids. I have enjoyed staying here. Others are Four Seasons Hotel at Market Street. It has access to a nice fitness center/spa. But it is a bigger hotel, etc. Also on a busy street. I do prefer Huntington Hotel over Four Seasons Hotel.
I did a search for you and here's the link: it appears that the Ritz Carlton is top of the list. Personally, after reviewing the options it seems that The Palace seems like a possible winner because of it's style and conveniences. What woman would not like a beautiful garden area and to be served a cup of hot tea? Good job and brilliant idea to take your lady away from her house. Breaks and new scenery is always highly appreciated. Hope you find what you are looking for.
I recommend considering the famous, beautiful and centrally located St. Francis Hotel. Here's their website:

Congratulations on your anniversary. Your trip sounds like a wonderful celebration.
Where ever you stay, make sure and travel to Sausalito in Marin County just across the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a beautiful place for a romantic stroll and lunch. Also, don't miss out spending some time in Golden Gate park at the museum.. it's truly "golden"
If you go to there are some great hotels that are very romantic. Have great features and you are guaranteed to have a good time.
I recommend the St. Francis. It is quaint and perfect for romance. It makes you feel like you're in France!
I live and work up in the beautiful Central California Gold Country near Yosemite, but go the the city often. I agree with the recommendation for the Huntington Hotel. It is intimate luxury at its best. The location is suberb and the staff treat you like royalty. You can't do better than the Huntington.
