I will assume you're asking about Quito. Within the city you have three famous landmarks that you must visit. First, the historical district, which is the least altered and largest colonial center in the Americas. Within its area, you will find more than 20 churches built between the 16th and 18th centuries complete with monasteries, plazas and remarkable masterpieces of religious colonial artwork. You also have a bunch of cafes and restaurants, as well as shops. In addition, in the center there are a lot of museums and civil buildings also interesting to visit if you have the time. Finally, there are three hills to overlook the town from above. Check my reviewed items to find out more.

The second famous place in Quito is the Mariscal quarter. It was a mid-20th century residential development that has been turned into the touristic point in Quito. You will find a ton of hostels, restaurants, cafes, pubs, touristic agencies and so on within its boundaries.

The third famous place is the Mitad del Mundo (center of the world) monument. Standing almost on the Equatorial line, it is well-known for the touristic pictures everybody takes, with one foot on each hemisphere.
Out of Guayaquil visit Cerro Blanco, Manglares Churutes, Isla de los pajaros en Puerto el Morro, Salinas, Barcelona (not the soccer team but the village), Cocoa farms and Banana frams

The most famous place to visit in Guayaquil, Ecuador is the Santa Ana Hill, but you should try the Malecon 2000 (is a great boardwalk, where you'll find from souvenirs stores to Mc Donalds... Nearby is the "Malecon del Salado" another boardwalk. You can try the Historic Park, where you'll find lots of species of birds, monkeys, crocodriles, snakes. You may also try the Iguanas Park. And if you have time, you can take the Morgan Ship to make a short river tour.
Well ... I´ll answer you about my own city, Cuenca. This is a city full of small wonderful corners. From the big new cathedral to the small Inca - Cañari ruins in "Todos Los Santos". But if I have to choose one special place, it will surely be the zone known as "El Barranco". This is a very pictorial neighbor full of old construction by the side of the river. Walking along the river walk sides is a wonderful experience... the fresh air, the trees, the old architecture (Including the recently restored "Casa de los Arcos", which belonged to my grand grand father), is simply spectacular. Along the walking side there are small cafes and art galleries, as well. In fact, the best of Cuenca is its architecture ... wherever you go. It is the city of the artists and scientists. The cultural capital of Ecuador.
BOCA BEACH! in the area of Crucita.
Serious better if specific which city. You speak on Guayaquil, the best place definitely is the Cerro Santa Ana, has a historic legacy for the city, emblematic place where you can see the north and center of the city from the viewpoint.
