We are planning a trip to Egypt and want to make a side trip to Israel. Getting there - and back seems difficult. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I am not sure where you are from and this may affect what happens for you. You should check with your nearest Egyptian consulate (I can give you contact details if you let me know where you are). However, as far as I know you can get a visa and cross into Israel at Taba/Eli'at (the port city of Eilat is the southern most point of Israel and lies on the banks of the Red Sea, from here you can literally see Jordan and Egypt) and back through the same crossing, ensuring you get another visa for Egypt (although if you get a multiple entry visa upon arrival you should be covered) at the consulate at Eli'at upon return. If you are getting one before you come back in make sure it's a full visa, not a Sinai travel permit. You will need to have passport photos with you.

You need to be aware that having an Israeli stamp in your passport will mean difficulty for you entering some Arab countries (you may be denied entry). Also, things can change very quickly in this part of the world and you need to double check this info before you travel.

Please remember to take security very seriously coming and going.

Good luck

yes, with 15 $ you can get the visa at the airport
no suggestions weather in egypt now is fine sa usual but the side trip will be so difficult because of wars
there are 4 hours from Sharm El Sheikh to Taba, Israel, the organized excursion costs around $100. You don't need visa for 1-2 days
