A trip to North Italy in April

Hi to all Italian friends. We are planning a trip in mid April with a friend. we will arrive at malpensa airport and we want to visit mostly the North part of Italy. from Genova up to Venice and down to Firenze. Where is the best town- area to stay. We prefer countryside and not too much tourist-crowded areas to stay. We are going to rent a car. any suggestions will be appreciated.

Country: Italy

Genova, Milan, Venice and Florence and so on are big cities and you need two or three days to visit well them. So, I suggest you to plan your travel with several stops in the main cities. For example, if you get by plane in Orio al Serio Airport (Bergamo), you could do this travel:
1 From Bergamo to Venice: at least two or three nights in Venice
2 From Venice to Bologna: two nights in Bologna
3 From Bologna to Florence: at least two or three nights in Florence
4 From Florence to Genova: two nights in Genova
5 From Genova to Milan: at least two or three nights in Milan
6 From Milan to Lake Como: two or three nights in Varenna
7 From Lake Como to Bergamo
