Beside Ohrid and Skopje you can go Mavrovo its nice there you will have mountains and snow and everything ;)
Hi Giacomo!
I am not sure if there is a direct connection from Skopje to Prizren by bus....

Beside Ohrid and Skopje, you should visit Bitola, the most beautifull pedestrian street Sirok Sokak is there, traditional architecture, cafes, restaurants.. etc
Also, only 11km from Bitola there is a beautiful mountain Baba and the national park Pelister, famous for it's endemic type of pine tree called Molika or latin pinus silvestre.
There are many hiking trails, Hotel, 2 Ski centres, mountain lodge and the nature is very beautiful.
Bitola is 70 km from Ohrid and 170km from Skopje.
There is regular public transport by bus and train from Skopje and bus transport from or to Ohrid. You can also go to Ohrid by taxi, and it is convenient especially if you are not traveling alone.
You can spend new year eve in Bitola, there are many hostels and hotels.. for example check these:

Many cafes in Bitola are open during new year eve, so you don't need a reservation..you just pick some by the type of music or croud..

And beside Bitola you can also visit Krusevo that is close to Bitola(45km)
Hope you have a nice stay in Macedonia,

Greetings from Bitola

Hello there!
You've made a very nice choice, I must say.
If you are interested in adventure and discovery, I recommend you to visit the astronomic observatory Kokino which was carved in stone more than 3000 years ago. Since you are in the southeast region, I recommend also some of the medieval monasteries, and the small town of Cratovo which is built on a volcanic crater and was the main source of gold for the region during the Roman period.
If you need any help on finding accommodation (hotel 2-3*** up to 40 Euro, or private house up to 15 euro), restaurants, and if you need a guide, please contact me by mail

Have a nice time in Macedonia!!!

Hello back,
Besides those two most famous MKD cities, I suggest countryside and eco tourism tours if you have a time to do it. Try biking or hiking tours if you love nature and try to visit one of few National parks of Macedonia, for example, Pelister around 15km from Bitola city, which is my favourite because of the authentic type of pinewood tree called Molika, which grows only here in all world (it has a 5 leaves and dots compare to regular pinewood tree), also very good walking track and cheap accommodation in hotel Molika or mountain home Kopanki. Next, Mavrovo national park, around 120km from Skopje on thew west, one famous ski center with nice ski sloaps and clear mountains and artificial lake on a dame.
Krushevo, most highest Balkanic city on app. 2000m high, small cute Macedonian town known as the first Balkanic republic during short Ottoman Empire Uprising in 1903, with beautiful old Macedonian architecture, mountain to climb and ski center too... Those are just suggestions, but if you can see more, go for it...
Definitely Krushevo! It's the San Marino of the Balkans. The first Republic in the Balkans was created there. It is so picturesque, especially in winter. It's the highest town in the region, with inhabitants living in a quite traditional way. Dont forget to taste the Krushevo lokum. Italians are usually impressed by the oriental ambients. You have them enough in Skopje, but you can try Tetovo, on the way to Prizren. Prizren is a great choise for this. There is a daily bus at 4 PM and weekdays bus at 11.30 AM for Prizren (from the city bus station), but if you go to Tetovo you'd have more options there.
Its very good to visit berovo, great nature, hotel, spa, all exclusive
