Hey Randall! Well, it all depends on what lifestyle you want to have lol. I guess you can have a pretty decent one for about $500 to $700 a month (including rent)...hope this helps!

I, nice to meet you... about living in Ecuador depends on many different factors...
If you live in a city or a rural area it will be completly different. In cities you can find departments for $300 equiped but this can be less also if it is not centraly located.
In rural zones like it seems to be, Otavalo, Ibarra, ... you can rent little apartments for a 150$ but never expect the same confort than what you are use to. The way of bulding houses is completly different. It depends more of the economical revenue of the owners. Many times they save some money and construct when they are economicly able. But when money is gone, construction is stoped....
Food in Ecuador is realy cheap. In little local restaurants on the corner of the street you can have some lunches for less then 3 dollars: soup, main course, juice or desert!!! But even cheaper is to go to the local markets where food is sold very cheap. That, at least if you can cook! No doubt about!
chears and welcom to Ecuador
Let me know where you will be!
Long stay at my hostel in the heart of Quito, the capital city, are offered for $300 a month including breakfast, internet, hot water, storage room and all the services a decent hostel might have. You can find food in the area from $2 to $20 for lunch and you can get a decent amount of alcohol in your blood stream for about $15 per night. If you are thinking of Quito let me know!
Here in Guayaquil, you would need between 500-700 dollars a month. This includes rent, services, transportation, clothing, food and your personal activities in the city. Ecuador is a very cheap country, actually!
Hey! My boyfriend is from the U.S, he's coming next week and he's staying for a month so I can tell you with facts that a condo (apartment) for one person with air conditioner, bed, cable tv, wireless internet, kitchen, independent bathroom and 2 days a week cleaning is around $450 (I looked everywhere to get the best and affordable option) aside of that, food and transportation are not that expensive so I'd say you can live on $600 a month.
$400 (Normal but not fancy)
$600 (middle fancy)
$900 (really fancy)

Including food, rent, phone, water, light.
Depends on the city in which you reside. If you'll be traveling back and forth within the country or if you're going to stay in one place.
On the coast, you can survive with an average of $ 350 to $ 400 per month, that if in a modest manner. In the mountains, you can survive with an average of $ 400 and $ 500.
If you're traveling from one place to another, depend on the route, to have more clear you can start deciding what you want to know the eastern communities of the mountains, beaches and that if you plan to travel to the Galapagos Islands (this if more expensive).
