Planning a vacation to Japan ... Any tips? (sightseeing, food, accommodation, transport)

Country: Japan

Avoid rainy season, from mid June till mid July. Green and Maple color season are nice for the sightseeing.
If you don't agree with soy sauce based food, you may not enjoy food here, but as long as you are staying in major cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto.. you won't have any problem with food.
There are so many accomodations, so check some guide books and online info. Make sure if they have western type of toilet when you make a reservation.
If you travel from Tokyo to Kyoto or Osaka, maybe it is a good idea to get a JR pass for foreign travelers in advance.
Hope you have a great time in Japan :-)
Hi.I can't add much more to what Makiko-san has said.I live in the Kansai Region - Osaka,Kyoto,Nara,Kobe - which has many very-popular tourist destinations & sights.Whether you are into the popular places or the off-the-beaten-track sites, there is plenty here to see & experience.Any time of year,is a good time to visit Japan, but some times are better that others. My suggestion, grab a cup-of-coffee and surf through the internet.Failing that, give me a yell (send me a message) and,if there is any way I can be of help, don't hesitate to ask.
