whats the best backpackers hostel in san francisco, close to main attracttions and fun?

City: San Francisco

State: California

Country: United States

Elements hostel on 21st and Mission is a great location - close to Mission District restaurants and nightlife as well as good transportation options. There is a Hostelling International hostel near Union Square that is very centrally located. It's easy to get anywhere, but I don't think the neighborhood has as much to offer a young traveler on a budget. I've heard the Green Tortoise Hostel is fun to stay at - and they do offer a lot of sightseeing options to their guests. It is relatively convenient to the Bay, Chinatown, and the Golden Gate Bridge. If you have time, I would also suggest staying at one of the coastal hostels - Pigeon Point, Marin Headlands (which can even be reached via a 6 mile hike from SF), or Point Montara.

Have a great time!
This is a great option in downtown Sand Francisco...

Hands down the Green Tortoise Hostel, Free meals, Free internet, Free parties! what more do you need
