Tunza Children home has exciting new teaching opportunities that offer international volunteers the chance to have real hands on experience working directly with street and other vulnerable children in Nairobi, Kenya
We are looking for enthusiastic qualified teachers to teach either at our Interim Care Centre for street children or one of our local partner primary schools. We also encourage non qualified volunteers to come and assist us on teaching English and other Kenyan Curriculum subjects, such as maths and science while improving basic literacy.

Details:

We seek volunteer to come and assist us teach children in classes of around 10-15 children. We encourage volunteers to focus on teaching remedial reading and writing and working with arts and crafts with the children. Although there are many arts and crafts supplies brought from volunteers at the centre, we rely on the volunteers to utilize these items. Local teachers do not understand the value of arts education and are embarrassed by the children efforts, which look less than perfect.

We are looking for male and female volunteers who love working with children and have a flair for creativity. You will teach small classes in either our nursery on site. Qualified teachers and general volunteers are all welcome. You will also be engaged in various activities, mainly teaching in the nursery school and helping out in the children home.

A program volunteer works directly with one of our programs. Some volunteers prefer to work directly with our children playing board games, reading or simply giving individual time to a child. Some have a special skill to share or a hobby to teach a small group of children on a weekly basis.
