Rock climbing is offered just a few kilometres from Nairobi. Other hiking and walking venues include Mt. Longonot, Suswa and Ol Donyo Sabuk. These are one day trekking and hiking adventure safaris and need not be strenuous.

Other adventure tours include the over Lander camping, off the beaten truck trips. These camping tours usually involve covering larger areas and gets more interior, takes longer days but is also the most rewarding.

Adventure tours will usually include camping in mobile 1-2 man tent units. Catering is provided while transport is by over Landers and or trucks.

Frequent Matatus (public transport vehicles) Kshs 80, one hour, run along Moi south Lake Rd between Naivasha town and Kongoni on the lake’s Western side, is passing the turn-offs to hells gate National Park and Fisherman’s Camp. It’s a 5km walk from Kongoni to Crater Lake, but don’t do this alone as there have been recent muggings.

There is one daily matatu along Moi North Lake Rd. leaving from the Total petrol station in Naivasha around 3pm. returning to town you’ll need to be on the road by about 7am, otherwise it’s a long dusty walk.

You will drive into the Rift Valley Escarpment and catch a glimpse of the beautiful escarpment. Arrival at Mt. Longonot National Park is within 1½ hours to start hiking to the top and round the crater if time and your energy permits. (The hike up and round takes around two-three hours)

Picnic lunch is taken at the several rest points o at the top of the crater. Depart for Lake Naivasha and its environs. Enjoy a boat ride and view hippos, buffaloes etc. other optional activities include biking. Finish your one day tour and drive back to Nairobi in time for dinner and departure from JKI airport.
