There are many needy children in Kenya, most of whom are, for different reasons, parentless. Several organisations have tried to take in these children whorange from infants to preteen ages. They then try to work with the government to find them suitable adoptions. A children's home can never compare to a "home" for a child. At children's homes you can spend a day or days just caring for a child and bring some goodness to a needy one.

Kenya is home to arts. From wood carvings, Batiks, wire crafts, banana fibre crafts to archeological masks and paintings. Different tribea had their own crafts. The hightlight in crafts is the carving of people and animals from soap stone, Ross wood and Ebomy woods. East Africa is also home to the Tanzanite gems and other semiprecious stones.

Most all tour destinations in East Africa are accessed by roads. The state of the roads in the wild ussually is that THERE ARE NO REAL ROADDS! Some destinations are tougher than others but most have to do with the seasons. The rainy season for example may require you to get dirty lending a helping hand pushing your vehicle thro mud! Mush of it is depleted and still continues to suffer damage in the countries in the said region, in persuit of development and MONEY. The greatest portion still in existence is in the Congo. In Kenya, The government works very hard to try and preserve the only remaining portion, THE KAKAMEGA FOREST. Needless to say that the older generations around this forest knows the medicinal value many of the dissapearing tree species have in their roots, barks and leaves. Sadly enough there is little documentation of this knowledge that was only passed on from generation to generation by word of mouth. The forest is rich in species of birds, snakes, bugs, butterflies and apes.

The ARABUKO SOKOKE forests in WATAMU along the cost of Kenya is another another one of the remaining indigenous forests in Kenya that is a must to see. The mangrove forest in the same area is a vibrant ecosystem that is a pleasure to visit.
