Centro Tinku EIRL
Centro Tinku is a language school and a cultural center dedicated to exchanges between students from Universities the world over, and the Andean Peoples, through the diffusion of knowledge about traditional cultures of Peru (tinku means encounter in Quechua). We offer educational and academic services focusing on Arts and Literature, Anthropology and History, Archaeology, Sustainable Development, etc. We have organized a network of homestay families where our students can share the life of a Cusco family. Centro Tinku has created its own Travel Center, Tinku Tours, www.tinkutours.com through which we organize all kinds of study trips and excursions that may be required to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Machu Picchu, the Amazonian jungle, Puno and Titicaca Lake, and any other destination in the region.
Offered Services
Homestay in Cusco
We have established a group of homestay families in residential
areas, located only minutes away from the historical town center where Centro Tinku is. We offer
this to guarantee that students will be housed in homes with a minimum of comfort (private
bedroom, equipped bathroom with hot shower…). All our families live are within a two or three
street-blocks radius in this middle class neighborhood. Students can visit each other to do their
homework and organize their evening activities together. The families we work with have had at
least 2 years experience working with Tinku and have been trained on such topics as food-safety
and health emergency. In addition to the Program coordinator form Tinku, we have a groupcoordinator
who lives in the neighborhood, and who will make the appropriate decisions in case of
emergency, and an English-speaking MD, who will be on call for the duration of the stay of our
students. Costs are for a private room with access to bathroom and 3 meals.
Furnished apartments
We rent 2 furnished apartments located inside our main building (calle Nueva Baja 560, Cusco). One studio and one apartment + kitchen. Contact tinkutours@centrotinku.com or info @centrotinku.com for availability and costs
Quechua
Quechua was the language of the Incas and is still spoken by the indigenous populations of the Andes. Today, only in Peru, an estimated 5 million people speak Quechua as their first language. Quechua is also spoken in Bolivia and parts of Ecuador.
Its origin is unknown and its lexical basis and linguistic structure unlike any Indo-European language. It is exceptionally suited for poetry and songs, and possesses a wonderful melody and rhythm.
We will organize private or small group classes, Homestay in local families, trips and craft activities, etc. to complement language instruction.
Spanish
Centro Tinku prides itself on the quality and experience of its language teaching staff. We currently have 6 levels of intensive Spanish and in groups or individual instruction.
In addition, we can arrange courses in Latin American literature taught in Spanish by Centro Tinku’s professional staff and also courses in Oral Literature taught by local linguists and anthropologists.
We offer combinations of language courses with Homestay, Volunteering and/or crafts. See our webpage for more information and prices www.centrotinku.com

Cusco to Machu Picchu
From Cusco, a fantastic 3 hour train ride drops 4,000 ft and takes you into the jungle-covered valley of the Urubamba river at the foot of the Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. You will visit one of the moest famous archaeological sites in the world, recognised as one of the new 7 Wonders of the World. You will stay overnight in Aguas Calientes at the foot of the ruins and enjoy its hot baths. The following day you can return to the ruins to explore them on your own.You might want to climb up to the peak of Wayna Picchu that overlooks the ruins, or down to the Templo de la Luna. Machu Picchu is still in many ways a mystery. In the century since its discovery many hypotheses have been put forward about the nature of Machu Picchu, the reason for its construction and its sudden desertion. Please contact us at info@centrotinku.com and we will help you with all necessary bookings.
