Highlights of Belgrade - private, half day city tour
The “Highlights of Belgrade” tour strives to show you the best that the Serbian capital has to offer. Following a pick up at your hotel we combine a panoramic drive through the newer quarters of the city with a walk through Kalemegdan – the ancient fortress of Belgrade that guards the confluence of the Danube and Sava rivers. We shall see the impressive New Royal Palace and Old Royal Palace (outside views only) – now hosting the City Hall and the office of the Serbian Prime Minister. We’ll also visit the fancy Dedinje neighborhood with its villas and embassies, where also the memorial for Marshall Tito, “The House of Flowers” is to be found. The long Kneza Milosa Avenue, where embassies, public buildings and bombed ruins of the recent conflict coexist, is the back-bone road of the city and a must-see, too. The giant and still unfinished St Sava Orthodox cathedral is the largest of its kind on the Balkans and rapidly turning into the landmark of the capital. But in order to see how a Serbian Orthodox church looks like from the inside we should rather stop at the Patriarchy church, located just above the tourist port. And of course, you would not get to take the pulse of the city unless you took a moment to enjoy a rich, dark “Turkish” coffee in one of the many cafes that line up Kneza Mihaila Street, the pedestrian shopping avenue of Belgrade. At the end of the tour, you will be dropped off at your hotel or upon request, at any location in the town if you prefer to continue exploring/shopping on your own.
Tour duration: 3 hours
Difficulty: easy
The tour runs MON-SUN, morning or afternoon
