Exploring White Karen Village
Ban Nam Hoo - Ban Huai Goong

Morning:
Depart from your hotel or resort, travel by 4WD along dirt road! First visit the most beautiful viewpoint in Maehongson. Take a panoramic view of mountain. Continue driving to Ban Nam Hoo, visit a tiny Karen village which the local still living in the traditional way of life. Afterwards, meet local guide. Start trekking through the fertile forest area. On the way enjoy the brautiful bamboo forest area. Take a break at Nam Hoo waterfall. Then continue your trek to the second village at Ban Huai Goong. Having lunch here and after lunch enjoy swimming and bathing in Mae Samat river.

Afternoon:
Continue our trek through the fertile jungle. This part of the trail is going up the mountain some part is very steep. Late afternoon arrive at park ranger. Drop local guide at their village, goodbye and then reture to your hotel hotel or resort.

Morning:
Depart from your hotel or resort, travel by 4WD along dirt road! First visit the most beautiful viewpoint in Maehongson. Take a panoramic view of mountain. Cotinue driving to Ban Huai Hee. Upon arrival meet local guide. Start trekking through the Doi Pui. The elevation starts from 1,000 m. to 1,722 m. Local guide will take us to visit fertile forest area. On the way enjoy the beautiful wild orchid conservation area. Learn about Karen traditional medicine and forest conservation project.

Lunch:
Karen jungle lunch at Doi Pui camp site.

Afternoon:
Continue our trek through the fertile jungle. This part of the trail is going down to the village. Late afternoon arrive at village center. Visit the site of rotational farming and see the local handmade Karen weaving clothes. Then reture to your hotel or resort.

Morning:
After your breakfast depart to visit CBT area. On the way enjoy the beautiful mountain road and stop over at viewpoint to have a look at misty valley. And then arrive at Ban Mae Lana, meet local guide and leave for the trek. During your trek, local guide will take us to visit the conservation forest area, Coral cave and area to collect the herbal medicine.

Afternoon:
Return to the village to exploring the village area, begin to visit a village temple then visit place where they make the traditional sesame oil making, rice paddy field until late afternoon then say good bye to the villagers and reture to resort.

Morning:
After your breakfast depart to visit CBT area. On the way enjoy the beautiful mountain road and stop over at viewpoint to have a look at misty valley. Afterwards, arrive at meeting point where the local guide from Black Lahu village at Ban Jabo is waiting to lead you on the trek. Prepare for trekking to the limestone mountain area and rotational farming.

Afternoon:
Continue the trek to visit Pre-historic "Coffin Cave" where it contains the wood coffin aging around 1500-2000 years old. Afterwards, visit the Lahu cultivation area and "Lan Ja Kru" where the local ceremony is done. Late afternoon say goodbye to the local guide and villagers. Reture to your hotel or resort.

7 day advanced training course in northern Thailand

This 5-7 Day Jungle Expedition training course is aimed at those who work or travel in the rainforest or looking at planning their own ventures into the unknown. The Instructors will teach you the essential skills required to survive and live in unforeseen circumstances or events in remote jungle areas. The first night will be spent in Maehongson, Thailand before traveling to Green Wood Garden Adventure Camp, a 1 hour bumpy journey by car and foot to a remote jungle area. Set far from any disturbances and surrounded by many types of different forest types it is a perfect setting. With the exception of a couple of small Hill Tribe villages, Maehongson's forest areas remains pretty much uninhabited.

Upon arrival at the Camp, the first 1 ½ days will be spent learning theoretical skills such as emergency procedures, navigation and expedition guidelines, and then putting them into practice on practical trainings, e.g. using only the contents of your survival kits and machete. Skills taught will include: Abseiling, river crossing, navigation & GPS use, emergency procedures and essential skills such as:
Water – The most essential element of any survival situation, you will learn about water collection and sources, as well as purification methods – both modern and improvised.

Shelter – Construction of jungle shelters made from natural materials

Fire – Fire building using ancient and modern fire starting skills.

Signaling – If you want to be found, you need to be seen. You will be taught how to attract the attention of search parties.

Food – Food procurement from both flora and fauna. Traps, fishing and edible plants. Also emergency medicinal sources.

The course is aimed required by those wanting to come on expedition with us but also at anyone interested of learning those skills. This will be a very arduous and tiring course both mentally and physically, so students need to be physically fit, and prepared to face up to the rigors of this beautiful but challenging environment.

About Greenwood Garden Organic Farm:

Greenwood Garden also operates a year round organic farm, called the Greenwood Garden Organic Farm, a sustainable agriculture project. Foods grown on the farm are used to feed camp guests and staff during the operating months. The Greenwood Garden Organic Farm includes vegetable and herb gardens, fruit orchards, a fish farm a coffee plantation and livestock.

The farm will operate as a cooperative (Owner co-op), which will be co-owned and managed by a selected group of local farmers from the area.

A "Food For The Community" program will be established, in which a percentage of the foods harvested will be available to the Shan and Lisu communities.

Select fruits, vegetables and herbs will be sold at the local market in MaeHongSon to finance and support the farm operation. Future plans include growing and exporting organic coffee and select organic nuts, herbs, spices, vegetables and tropical fruits to ChiangMai or BangKok.

By using an adventure setting for our activities you benefit from a tool which is extremely effective in developing and altering knowledge, abilities and attitudes. History of Mae Hong Son City

In the past, Mae Hong Son was formerly calles, "Mae Rong Son" which means a stream used for bathing and training of wild elephants. It was previously a forest settlement of Tai Yai. A villager named "Shan Ka Lae" initiated the native people to settle together in a place which they than established as "Khun Yuam" village. In 1874, the village developed into a town and the name was changed into "Mae Hong Son". Later, Prince Inthawichayanont of Chiang Mai realized the guardianship ability of Shan Ka Lae and promoted him to be Phraya Singhanat Raja, the first governor of Mae Hong Son.

The province of Mae Hong Son is the only province in the entire country that has been selected as one of the ten livable and beautiful cities in the world, is comprised of about 12,682 sq.km. making it the 7th largest province in the country. It consiste of 7 districts, namely:

Muang, Khun Yuam, Mae La Noi, Mae Sariang, Sob Muei, Pai and Pang Ma Pha.

The fascination of this land lies mainly on the purity of its nature, with its verdant forests and to wering mountains that always seen to fortify and protect its intrinsic culture from the rest of the country. This had capacitated the native people of Mae Hong Son to preserve their real and distinctive identity in terms of arts, culture and way of life.
