A visit to the PALAENTOLOGY department in the National Museums of Kenya is a must where findings, documentations and hominid fossils are exhibited.

Its one of the amazing pre- history safaris which combines the early human race, with wild animals bird life and the modern man from early stone age to this century.

EAST AFRICAN ARCHAELOGICAL EXPERIENCE

DAy 1.Arrival in Nairobi by international flight. Met by our representative and transferred
to your hotel for check-in and overnight stay at the Panafric Hotel.

DAY 2:After breakfast, Have a guided visit of the Nairobi National Museum the Archaeological department, followed by a discussion (questions and answers). Depart for Lake Magadi where you will visit the Olergesaille archaeological site. Picnic lunch. Evening transfer to Naivasha for check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the Lake Naivasha Country Club.

DAY 3:After breakfast, depart for the Masai Mara Game Reserve via Narok. Check-in and lunch at the lodge. Afternoon game drive in the reserve that is famous for its large concentration of wildlife as well as bird life. It is the Natural prolongation of Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. Dinner and overnight stay at the Mara Sopa lodge.

DAY 4:Full day spent at the Mara with morning and afternoon game drives. All meals and overnight stay at the Sopa Lodge.

DAY 5:After breakfast, depart for Lake Nakuru National Park with a visit to the Hyrax Hill Neolithic site en-route. Check-in and late lunch at the lodge. Afternoon game drive in the park that is famous for its large concentration of pink flamingoes and other bird life. It is Kenya's first Rhino sanctuary for both the black and the white species. Dinner and overnight stay at the Lake Nakuru lodge.

DAY 6:After breakfast, depart for Kabarnet. Visit the archaeological site where they excavated the Millenium Man and also the Kabarnet Museum. Picnic lunch. Evening, transferred to the hotel for check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the Kabernet Hotel.

DAY 7:After breakfast, depart for Baringo. Check-in and lunch at the Lake Bogoria Hotel. Afternoon visit to the Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

DAY 8: After breakfast, depart for Nairobi. Check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the Panafric Hotel.

DAY 9:After breakfast, depart for Arusha, Tanzania. Customs and immigrations formalities at the Namanga border. Met by our Tanzanian representatives and transferred to Mountain Village Hotel for lunch. Afternoon depart for Lake Manyara National Park. Visit the Mto wa Mbu village. You will have the occasion of meeting with the villagers, visiting a kindergaten, a church and also learn the traditional methods of cultivation. Transferred to the lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the Lake Manyara Serena Lodge.

DAY 10:After breakfast, go for a morning game drive in the Park and around Lake Manyara. Return to the lodge for lunch and then depart for Serengeti. Check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

DAY 11 AND 12.Two full days at Serengeti National Park with morning and afternoon game drives plus visit to Serengeti Center, a museum that concentrates on the history and ecosystem of this region. All meals and overnight stay at the Serengeti Sopa Lodge.

DAY 13.After breakfast, depart for the Olduvai archaeological site. Visit of the museum and the excavation site. Picnic lunch and depart for Ngorongoro. Check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the Ngorongoro Sopa lodge.

DAY 14After breakfast, depart for a full day crater tour using 4 x4 vehicles. Picnic lunch. Evening, transferred back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay
.DAY 15:After breakfast, depart for Arusha. Lunch will be at Arusha restaurant.Aftrernoon board shuttle transfer to Nairobi to get your flight back home.

Day 1.
Arrival in Nairobi by international flight. Met by our representative and transferred
to your hotel for check-in and overnight stay at the Nairobi Safari Club Hotel.
Fossil leaves have been found preserved in great numbers at the Ngorora formation on the Tugen Hills, at the floors of the Great Rift valley. What you see here, are impressions of fossil leaves on rock. Leaves form the highest number of fossil plant remains housed in the Division of Palaeontology, at the Museum

DAY 2:
After breakfast, Have a guided visit of the Nairobi National Museum with the Director of the Archaeological department, followed by a discussion (questions and answers). Depart for The fossilised skull of a hominid that lived 930,000 years ago has been found in Kenya
Lake Magadi where you will visit the Olergesaille archaeological site. Picnic lunch. Evening transfer to Naivasha for check-in, dinner and overnight stay at the Lake Naivasha Country Club.

Children Program in Orphanage/Care Center

The orphanage work program is highly challenging and rewarding, as you will be changing the lives of orphaned children who rarely receive opportunities to interact with other people. Share love and care for innocent, troubled, and forgotten children, offer them a profound gift.. Working with orphaned children demands lots of patience, as these children’s harsh living conditions have often alienated them from society.

A volunteer’s responsibility depends on the needs of the orphanage and the skills and interests of the volunteer. Most of the orphanages aim at the provision of education opportunities to orphans; therefore, in most cases, volunteers teach basic conversation English to the children. Volunteers also help in developing creative programs such as art, music, dance, sports, etc. Additional help on day trips, sanitation, cooking, and administration might be requested.

As a volunteer, you can help care for children in orphanages. Children are an integral part of all societies around the world and providing adequate care for them is an important part of everyday life. As an international volunteer this type of placement provides an opportunity for active hands-on work as well as a unique cultural exchange opportunity. Many orphanages are community initiated and operated by local community members. Often government support and staff are minimal; therefore the institutions are not provided with the necessary resources to optimize the children care. The orphanages rely upon volunteers to support their long-term sustainable initiatives through simple tasks and creative energy. Sharing your time with the children, you will be offering them the family love which they have not been privileged with, you will be presenting to them a reason to live as normal as you and us.

You may be assisting with daily routines helping cook and feed the children, playing with them, and devising games for their leisure after school and on weekends. Through all that you do, the individual attention and love that you give the children will last in their memories for a lifetime. The single most important factor in the development of young children is relationships with caring adults. Whether you have a background in childcare or simply enjoy caring for young children, a smile or hug can be a meaningful and long-term contribution.
In addition, the dialogue and interaction with local staff provides a rare opportunity for you to share ideas with them and build morale. The most important attributes needed for these placements are an open heart and a love for spending time with children. In some placements you will quickly pick up on the daily routine while in others you may need to be more creative in coming up with ideas.

Activity/Tour

The initiation for orphan’s children program grew out as a result of an increase in the number of orphans in the villages the pathetic living condition due to lack of support once they loose their parents. The organization therefore identified, as a priority to start a child care program center to cater for the orphans and the vulnerable children from the 3 yrs to 12 yrs.

Supporting these children has been a great challenge and volunteers have lent an upper hand with the aim of creating opportunities where unprivileged children can have equal opportunity to grow.

Most of the time volunteers will be teaching English and assisting the kids with creative activities such as painting, drawing and dancing.

In addition to this, volunteers help in the kitchen preparing meals, and washing dishes and clothes.

volunteers story telling skills will be put to good use inspiring and motivating the children. In collaboration with other local partners, together in one spirit, and with your kind assistance, let us revive their hope by providing a healthy environment for a meaningful future life.

Your program begins upon arrival in Nairobi with a comprehensive orientation facilitated by our volunteer coordinator briefing volunteers a head of their participation to prepare them for any anticipated challenges. But if you decided to go directly to the placement, your orientation will be done at the placement by our supervisor with the help of other experts at the host community level.

Volunteer’s responsibilities
•Helping the children in conversational English and assignments.
•Supervise the children to clean up and dress up.
•Supervise their studies and assignments.

•Prepare them for schools, check their dresses.
•Design, teach, organize and play games (educational and environmental).
Program Objectives
•To offer support, care and family for the orphans and vulnerable.
•To develop their mental and moral sense of belonging and responsibility.
•To create a platform for volunteers mentor the children and offer them cross cultural exposure.

Program Duration and Dates.
Program is opened to volunteers all year round. Volunteers can spend from two weeks onwards on the program.
Airport Pick up/Orientation

Volunteers will be picked up from the airport and transferred to their places of stay upon arrival. The pre-departure information to the placement and program is done to offer volunteers a clear picture and sensitivities of the people in the community of work. Orientation is at the placement including basic local language, syllabus and how to go about things in the community in terms of transport, food, water, socialization, etc.

Who can volunteer in children program in orphanages? Anybody can volunteer in this program as long as you are 18 years or more. It is regardless of your profession, skill or experience. You can volunteer as a team or an individual. You should understand that you will not do anything that may stigmatize any of the people you meet in the course of your work. You need to have an open mind and a willing heart.

How will a volunteer see his/her contribution after the program?
•You will see how valuable your love has been shared among the children.
•You will realize how important the knowledge you have about care or recreation, no matter how little, has been in the creation of joy and hope for many young ones.

Leo Community Development Network (LECDEN-KENYA) is a Project identification figure that has a lot to speak, illustrate and categorically to intervene on community. Leo is a Swahili word Meaning "today and tomorrow (the future)'.

LECDEN-KENYA began in 2005 as the Kiambiu Self-Help Community Programme in the slums of Kiambiu, Nairobi, Kenya. The program was started by community members and has now grown to include 3 feeding centers and the care of over 500 children orphaned by HIV/AIDS. Because the services of LECDEN-KENYA have reached beyond the boundaries of the Kiambiu, and Kibera slums and outside Nairobi, it was decided that the name should be changed to reflect its larger scope of services within Kenya, hence the new name, LECDEN-KENYA.

This safari combines two of the most interesting and contrasting Game Parks in Kenya. It provides an even balance between traveling by car and some real out door walking in the African bush. From the Northern frontier (Samburu), which is famous, for it's rare species such as the Reticulated Giraffes, Gravy's Zebra, the long necked Gerenuk and Lance Oryx. You drive into the Great Rift Valley where you will experience the thrill at a real foot safari. You have the opportunity to hike up the Vulture -inhabited cliffs of Hell's Gate National Park. The last four days are spent walking and game viewing through a wild life kingdom unsurpassed anywhere else in Africa. We mingle with the Nomads and wander among huge herds of plain game - a thrilling experience especially during the period of the wildebeest migration up from the Serengeti between July and October. We return to Nairobi for your final departure or Coastal extension.

Day 1: Nairobi/Mara
Depart Nairobi at 0930hrs and drive through the escarpment past Mount Longonot and mount Suswa to be in the Maasai Mara in the afternoon for a short walk (Ramble) around the camp. L,D

Day 2: Maasai Mara/Walking - Game View
After breakfast we head off to hike up the hills near our camp returning for lunch. Late afternoon game drive. B,L,D
Day 3: Maasai Mara/Game View
Whole day game viewing in the comfort of our vehicle to hunt for more game, which cannot be, approached on foot e.g. lion, elephants, buffaloes, leopard, cheetah and rhino. B,L,D



Day 4: Maasai Mara/ Mt. Longonot/Hells Gate
Leave Maasai Mara after breakfast driving to the foot of Mount Longonot where we hike to the crater before proceeding to Hell’s Gate National Park for the night. B,L,D

Day 5: Hells Gate - Trek
We will walk the gorge down a dry riverbed to the boiling sulphurous springs. Late afternoon we hike up the vulture inhabited cliffs of Hells Gate National Park. B,L,D

Day 6: Hells Gate / L. Nakuru
Drive to Lake Nakuru to view the flamingoes and wildlife with the overnight spent in the comfort of a hotel within town. B,L,D

Day 7: Nakuru / Samburu
Your drive past Mt. Kenya with its spectacular views of some of the peaks of the mountain (if it’s a clear day) before driving to Samburu Game Reserve. You arrive late in the afternoon for dinner and overnight at the camp. B,L,D

On many of these treks itineraries are varied and flexible. Equipment required by the client is minimal. Good walking boots/shoes. Wicking t-shirt and shorts. Long shirt/trousers, fleece and waterproofs, hat, sunscreen, toothbrush/toothpaste. We provide sleeping mat and tent, all food and cooking equipment (prepared in Nairobi then frozen for our trips) and of course, our guide. Park entrance fees apply where applicable. Day 1:Nairobi

Day2:TO THE CHIMPANZEES SANCTUARY

Depart Nairobi and Travel north after brakfast, where you drive past pineapple coffee, bananas plantation to one of the largest open air markets in East and Central Africa Karatina. A brief stop to sample what is sold and tom meet the local inhabitants who belong to the biggest tribe in Kenya- the Kikuyu. Proceed to the sweet water game reserve/ranch and chimp sanctuary, which is on your way to Mt. Kenya, in time for lunch. Game viewing and visiting the chimps in the one -square Kilometer sanctuary. This sanctuary is home to more than 26 orphaned chimps age varying from 2 -25 years most of which came from Jane Goodall Institute in Burundi return to Nairobi in the late evening(late inclusion is baby Zee, rescuer from a pet shop in United Arab Emirates), back to Nairobi later in evening to your hotel.Dinner and overnight at your Nairobi hotel.

Day 3 :National museum of Kenya,after morning breakfast,We proceed to National Museum of Kenya.

After an early breakfast, you'll leave for Bomas of Kenya to visit the Cultural activities taking place, different ethnics tribal groups performs here daily to promote our diversify culture. Various cultural groups including the Kikuyu,Luo,Luhya and many more communities which will entertain you with music, dancing and story telling.

Spend the whole day with the local communities, walks/tours returning to the Hotel in the evening. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 5: Mau Mau freedom warrior(Dedan Kimathi) Statue, at the Junction of Kimathi street/Souvenirs shopping at the City Market/Maasai market.

After morning breakfast, we go see the amazing Statue of our late freedom fighter warrior(Recent colonial war between the Mau Mau freedom fighters is also evident. Bombings of the Mau Mau that created lakes can be seen at Aberdares forest and Buffalo Springs Reserve)at the Junction of Mama Ngina street and Kimathi street,it is amazing piece of artwork. Later on,we take you to our famous curios market you buy anything of your choice to give you a long lasting memory of Kenya.Later ,we break for early lunch at your hotel with a restful afternoon and evening.Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 6: NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK /CARNIVORE RESTAURANT

After morning breakfast,we take you tothe Nairobi National Park, only 8kms from the city center, is Nairobi's pride for no other bustling capital can boast a paradise of wildlife almost on its doorstep. The morning is spend tracking some of the many species found in the park, which include Rhino, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard and Cheetah. Then lunch in carnivore restaurant, The tour ends in Nairobi in afternoon and back to your Hotel waiting to drop you later in the evening to the Airport.

CAUTION

As an Orphan and Teaching volunteer you will spend your time providing much needed assistance with the often understaffed, under-resourced and overcrowded orphanage and educational establishments In Kogelo village in Siaya and Nairobi Slum areas, From our volunteer project base on the outskirts of Kenya’s capital city, you will work closely with the teachers and orphanage carers to establish and enhance lesson plans which promote active participation and understanding.

Kiambiu slum in Nairobi,Kibera slum in Nairobi and Kogelo villiage in Siaya district in western Kenya, they both have an area of 12 sq. kms in each with an overwhelming population of over 100,000 . They are one of the densely populated areas in Nairobi and western Kenya. This population consists of different communities from various parts of Kenya, majority of whom are jobless and those in employment are lowly paid.

Day 1 Arrive to Jomo Kenyatta international airport,NAIROBI,KENYA
On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be met by Eyes on nature expeditions team member. Arrival on a morning or early afternoon flight will be best. You will be able to exchange money and settle in at your accommodation. Dinner will be at your accommodation, At Nairobi hotel/Hostel
Rest and settle in.

Day 2 Project
After breakfast, you will be taken and introduced to the staff at LECDEN,alocal ,n g o,and given a guided tour. After this initial introduction, you will then have the opportunity to become involved straight away. You will begin work on the building project,day care centre,a youth centre in Kiambiu or Kibera slum. While working, you will also have time to connect with the kids. You will take a packed lunch. Return to Hotel/Hostel for dinner.

Day 3 Project
Spend the whole day at the project, where packed lunch will be provided. Go back to the accommodation in the evening for dinner.

Day 4 Project
Spend the whole day at the project, where packed lunch will be provided. Go back to the accommodation in the evening for dinner.

Day 7 NAIRBI City Tour
Our experienced guide will take you through the sights and sounds of this Nairobi city. Meet people renown for their friendliness and visit cultural sites. The tour can include the Nairobi Museum, Animal orpharnage,Nairobi city market, Nairobi national park, Carnivore reeturant ,Bomas of Kenya, traditional Kenya lunch style at a local favorite restaurant. Spend the whole day in town. Return to the accommodation for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 CHURCH,SWIM AND BOMAS OF KENYA
After breakfast, we go to the church services Join 2000 other people in a service at one of Kenya biggest churches (optional activity). Have a quick lunch back at your accommodation. Then, go to Nyayo Stadium/Ymca Resort for a swim and have a lazy afternoon. In the evening, we will go to Bomas of Kenya for Cultural Centre to watch a variety of Kenya culture performances with songs and dances from the major tribes of Kenya. Have dinner there.

Day 9 Project
Spend the whole day at the project, where packed lunch will be provided. Go back to the accommodation in the evening for dinner.

Day 10 LAKE NAKURU National Park
You will leave Nairobi, head to Lake Nakuru National Park in the Rift valley part of Kenya. On your way, you will see people doing their day to day activities that help them earn a living. With lunch en route, you will arrive in early evening and then have a short tester game drive. Check-in at your accommodation for dinner and overnight at Nakuru Hotel/Lodge.

Day 11 July 15 Game drive
We do an early morning game drive, a good time to see the predators. Other animals to see in this park are Birds, Flamingoes, warthog, hyena, giraffe, elephant, kob and many more. This game drive will last a minimum of 4 hours; you can choose whether to have your breakfast packed before you leave for the game drive or have it when you come back from the game drive. Be back to accommodation in time to freshen up and have lunch. You will then go for the boat launch at exactly 2:00 pm when We have time; it starts at Lake Naivasha.lasting 3 hours. This boat trip will enable you to see Hippos, crocodiles and a lot of bird life. Dinner at your accommodation at lake Naivasha lodge/hotel.

Day 12
Back to Nairobi
This day, you will have a relaxed breakfast as you go enjoy the lake side of Naivasha with additional, Boat ride and beautiful sceneries at the lake. Later in the afternoon back to Nairobi Hostel/Hotel accommodation where Dinner and overnight is provided.
Day 13 After an early breakfast, 3 HRS
KAREN BLIXEN AND THE GIRRAFFE CENTRE

Depart in the morning or in the afternoon. Drive towards the Ngong Village to the Karen Blixen Museum, for many years thirds was her home. Later proceed to the giraffe Centre to see a feed the famous Rothschild Giraffes,arrive in the afternoon time for lunch,after lunch relax until evening in you room.Dinner and overnight provided at your Hotel/Hostel.
Day 14 July 18 Departure
Today, you will go for shopping, pack and say your goodbyes (depending on flights). You will head off to Jomo Kenyatta International Air port for your flight back home. An afternoon or evening flight will be best.

Day 1 Nairobi – Naro-Moro

Leave Nairobi for Naro-Moro for lunch. After lunch drive to the youth hostel for the rest of the day and night acclimatizing.
Day 2. Naro-Moru - Met Station

After breakfast leave the youth hostel and drive to the main gate. Start ascending the mountain through the rain forest for ten kilometers to the Met station for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 met station -Mackinders hut

After breakfast, continue ascend to Mackinders camp a for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Mackinders hut - met station

Wake up very early in the morning around 2.30 a.m and attempt point Lenana via Austrian Hut. After Point Lenana (17,058 ft), descend down to Mackinders camp for breakfast and then descend down to met station for dinner and overnight.


Day 5: Met Station – Nairobi

After breakfast, descend the last bit of the Mountain form met station via Naro Moru main gate for a short drive to Naro Moro town to catch your transport to Nairobi where the tour ends

Day 1: SAMBURU NATIONAL RESERVE
Depart Nairobi for samburu arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 2: SAMBURU NATIONAL
Full day in samburu with morning and afternoon game drive (optional visits to Samburu villages). All meal and overnight at campsite.

Day 3: LAKE NAKURU
Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to the Great Rift Valley viewing sceneries enroute, arriving to the Pink Lake often referred so due to it’s Great masses of Flamingos. After lunch proceed for game drive in the Park with numerous Animals. Dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 4. MAASAI MARA
Morning game drive, Watch and photograph Birds and Animals , breakfast and depart for Maasai Mara, Arrive in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive is taken. Dinner and overnight at campsite.

Day 5. MAASAI MARA
Full day in Maasai Mara. Morning and afternoon game drive. Meals and overnight at campsite.

Day 6. NAIROBI
Pre-breakfast game drive. Return to campsite for breakfast. After breakfast break up the camp and depart for Nairobi arriving in the afternoon.

Day 1 Nairobi/Maasai Mara
Drive to Maasai Mara after arrival in Nairobi. The drive takes four hours, taking you through the scenic escarpments of the Rift Valley. Check in at Mara Serena Lodge in time for lunch. Enjoy a full afternoon game drive and be back to Mara serena Lodge in the evening for dinner.

Day 2 Full day in Maasai Mara
Have a full day game viewing in Maasai Mara with an early morning, mid morning and afternoon game viewing drives. Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, Maasai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains divided by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests. During the seasonal migrations, Maasai Mara is home to up to a million wildebeest and an equally impressive number of zebra that move into the area from neighboring Serengeti National Park, in Tanzania. The reserve is home to all the big five and it is also possible to observe; baboon, eland, ostrich, bat-eared fox, jackal, Cheetah, and the rivers abound with hippos and crocodiles. Overnight at the Lodge.
Day 3 Maasai Mara/Amboseli

Be ready in the morning for a long drive to Amboseli National Park, with a stop over at the famous Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi for lunch. After lunch embark on a scenic drive through the Athi plains for two hours then enter Amboseli through Namanga. From here you will view game until you reach Amboseli Serena Lodge. From the lodge you will have a good view of the towering Mt Kilimanjaro on the Kenya Tanzania border. Have Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 Full day in Amboseli
Have a morning game drive after breakfast and get back to the hotel in time for lunch. Expect herds of elephants, giraffe, Cape buffalo and the rhino. After lunch embark on an afternoon game drive and be back to the hotel in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 Amboseli/Tsavo
This days adventure leads to Kilaguni Serena lodge, the first ever lodge to be built in a national park in Kenya. This is Tsavo National Park - second largest park in Kenya. On the way view the spectacular Shetani lava flow, reminder of the molten lava outpouring that spilled down the scenic slopes of the nearby Chyulu Hills over the last three centuries. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch and thereafter embark on an afternoon game drive. Here you will spot game particularly Tsavo's elephants, coloured red by the Tsavo soil. Dinner and overnight at Kilaguni Serena lodge.

Day 5 Tsavo West / Mombasa Sun N Sand Beach Resort
After breakfast drive from Tsavo to Kenyas coastal town of Mombasa. The drive takes three hours until you reach Sun N Sand Beach resort in time for lunch. The resort offers maximum relaxation after five days of travel and game viewing in the parks. Stay at the resort for five nights to get the real luxury of the Kenya coast, enjoying beach walking and water surfing, evening musical performances by local cultural groups and swimming in any of the resorts five swimming pools. Kenya has a fine unpolluted beach.
Days 6 -10
All five days at Sun N Sand Beach Resort.

Day 11 Mombasa/Nairobi
After breakfast drive back to Nairobi. Have your packed lunch at Mtito Andei, a town midway between Nairobi and Mombasa. The town is historically famous for the man eating lions that caused havoc during the construction of the Nairobi Mombasa railway. Be in Nairobi in the evening to take a flight home.

The derby is acknowledged as a stiff international sport and a great way to create awareness of the brisk onset in the desertification of Kenya, while also promoting better camel husbandry among the people of Kenya and the benefits of these spitting, kicking yet adorable creatures in arid environments.
The Derby takes place at Maralal, Samburu District, centered at Yare Club & Camp, just four kilometers south of Maralal town on the Nyahururu road. In addition to the camel races you will also find cycling races, donkey rides for the timid, darts, different challenge events, local dancing displays and stalls.
“Hit ‘em up, move ‘em out, raw hide” is the theme of this awe-inspiring annual event which is a blend of culture, colour, action, adventure and the finest camels of the north.
The derby, which has been running since 1990 attracts entries from America, Australia, New Zealand, England, Canada, Spain, France, Japan, and South Africa to mention but a few, who gang up to compete against the reigning Kenyan Champions. The camels are chosen by judges for these races depending on handlers, strength and potential for speed. It is not a surprise to find a camel get up to 25 km an hour when racing.
The camel races are broken into two main events over a number of days. The first – Novices and Amateurs is for those who wish to ‘spectate’ in style. It is a 10km race where you hire a camel and handler for the day, saddle up and join in the furious hairy ride. The PRO’s Elite Camel race is next, a 42km marathon over a measured distance, passing the Maralal Township and running through semi-desert environments. No handlers or assistants are allowed to be used; you’re left to the mercy of the desert and your own devices or imagination. Its just fun and adventure of untold magnitude!
The experts say, “The derby is a mecca for adventurers, nomads and camels alike set in the spell binding country of Kenya!” It is also voted one of the Kenya’s most exciting events.
The derby started as a fun event to promote this little known gem of a place, Maralal, in Northern Kenya while at the same time seeking to raise awareness of the camel, its habitat and the people who live there – the Samburu community. It has since grown to an international event attracting contestants from all over the globe. Most people choose to camp, and bring the kids to enjoy cycling, horse riding and more.

Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and one of the largest extinct volcanoes. It can be climbed at any time except in April and May during the long rains. January to March and August to October are the best climbing seasons. We use the Marangu route which is the easiest and the most accessible.

Many travellers are attracted to the highest point in Africa - Uhuru Peak on Kibo - which can be reached by several easy walking or scrambling routes. The two main summits of Kilimanjaro: craggy Mawenzi, 5149m, and 'flat-topped', Kibo, 5896m are separated by The Saddle, a 5km wide, high-altitude, semi-desert. From the summit glaciers, screes, cliffs, afro-alpine moorland then forests lead down to the cultivated foothills below.

The main routes to Kibo are:

The Marangu Route offers walking on gentle forest and moorland paths up to 4700m. Above, scree leads to Gillman's Point on the often snowy crater rim which is followed to Uhuru Peak. Accommodation is in huts.

The Machame and Umbwe Routes are tougher. Steep forest paths, easy scrambling and airy ridges lead to the final screes and hence the crater. Nights are spent in tents.

The Mweka Route is generally used to descend after either of the last two routes.

The Shira, Nanjara and Oloitokitok Routes are more remote but can be organised by us. The remote Lemosho Glades Route , is particularly beautiful and goes through one of the few areas on Kilimanjaro that is rich in game.

We can organise trips at any time of year for any size of group, We also offer several scheduled trips which combine the ascent of Kilimanjaro with that of Mount Kenya or Mount Meru and safari in Tanzania.

Information on Guides and Porters for Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

The guides and porters are the masters of the mountain. Once on the Mountain, your well equipped guides and porters, will rank second, only to your mental determination, in terms of important factors contributing to a successful summit attempt.

For the duration of your Kilimanjaro trek, your guide will be your advisor, he will lead you to the summit, and he will bring down safely again. It will be important that you work closely with him and take note of his advice.

The guide recruits the porters and trains up a team which he himself will lead. Just before moving off, he spreads the loads between them not more than 15kgs. for each porter. He accompanies the climbers during the entire trek and can generally answer any questions about plans and wildlife. On the camp group, guide and porters make the camping arrangements and prepare meals. Their day's work begins before the climbers wake up and ends late with lengthy conversations and card games long into the night.

Good equipment is vital to a safe and enjoyable climb. Sure, in superb weather conditions you could climb the mountain in a pair of old trainers, your oldest pair of long trousers and with a couple of sweaters thrown in you will only suffer badly during the last night of the ascent. However, let the weather change for the worse, a couple of hours driving rain soon after setting off from the Horombo area, and you could be dead from hypothermia very rapidly.

Support staff ratios

The average ratio of our support staff to climbers is 2 porters per climber, a cook and one guide for a maximum of 4 climbers. This excellent staff to clients ratio, bolstered by our superior support equipment, will ensure your safety and enjoyment on the mountain.

Porters and cook

The porters do not only transport your gear and the supplies up and down the mountain. Arriving at every mountain hut or camp site long before you, they will have already erected your tent on your arraval. In the evening they will also boil drinking and washing water and the cook will prepare dinner of a quality that has surprised many previous clients.

Weight limits for porters

Remember that there is a weight limit of 15 kg (30 lbs) per climber, on the gear of each climber to be portaged. A soft duffel bag (barrel type) is preferred - a rucksack is not necessary as they prefer to porter the loads balanced on their heads and shoulders.

Even with porters, it is recommended that each member of the party carry a light weight day pack containing at the very least a waterproof jacket, nibbles to eat on the walk, a 1 liter bottle of water and a warm pullover to put on at rest stops. Plus of course camera and valuables.

Tipping

Rate of pay varies with the route you take to go up the mountain, we would suggest that you evaluate the tipping not only by how efficiently the porters carry your own equipment but also for services rendered, such as getting you a better place in the huts and how good the food was etc plus of course whether or not your guide has been / is generally informative about the mountain in all its aspects. For those climbers on the non tourist routes, the tip is also assessed on how much they assisted in the collection of firewood and water, clearing up the campsites or huts etc.

20 DAY, 19NIGHTS BIRD WILDERNESS SAFARI
DAY 1: (NAIROBI-MT. KENYA)
Departure from Nairobi at 9.00 am for Mount Kenya National Park arriving in time for lunch at Mountain Lodge. Afternoon birding along the nearby-forested trails, or waiting for glimpses of the shy montane wildlife as they comes down to the nearby waterhole/saltlick. We hope to see Olive & Bronze-napped Pigeons, Silvery-cheeked Hornbills, Ruppell's Robin Chat, White-starred Forest Robin, Mountain Greenbul, Stuhlman's Starling and maybe Verreaux Eagle Owl. Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Mountain Lodge.

DAY 2: (MT. KENYA)
An early breakfast is followed by a short morning drive up Mt Kenya's lower slopes, through the numerous vegetation zones and onto the 10,000 ft Afro-alpine moorland. Then return in the afternoon for a bird walk along the riverine forests where we expect to see species like Black Duck, Hartlaub's Turaco, Crowned Hornbill, African Paradise Flycatcher and up to eight species of sunbird our Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Naro Moru Lodge.

DAYS 3 & 4: (MT. KENYA-LAKE NAKURU)
Early morning departure and drive across The Great Rift Valley wall and onto the Lake Nakuru National Park, arriving in time for lunch. Here we enjoy outstanding game drives & bird walks all making this a truly memorable locality. Famous for Flamingos, Pelicans and water birds but equally rich in Narina's Trogon, Arrow-Marked Babbler and Red-Headed Weaver, Hilderbrandt's Francolin, Montane and Dusky Nightjars and many more. We’ll spend our next two overnights at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge.

DAYS 5 & 6: (LAKE NAKURU-LAKE BARINGO)
After a short drive north, past Lake Bogoria and onto Lake Baringo. Afternoon boat excursion to view Hippo, Crocodiles and water birds at close range. Dark Chanting Goshawk, Silver bird, Cliff Chats, Jackson's & Yellow-Billed Hornbills, Brown-tailed Rock Chat, Bristle-Crowned Starlings, Verreaux Eagle & Spotted Eagle Owl. We’ll spend our next two overnights at Lake Baringo Country Club.

DAYS 7 & 8: (LAKE BARINGO-KAKAMEGA)
Take a full day drive over the Tugen Hills, through the Kerio Valley and Sirikwa plateau and finally onto Kakamega Forest. Kakamega is the eastern most remnants of the great West African rain forests that once stretched the width of Africa, its flora, fauna & avifauna is fascinating. Specialties include Great Blue Turaco, Emerald Cuckoo, Blue-headed Bee-Eater, Black & White Casqued Hornbill, Black-billed and Violet’s Black Weavers. We’ll spend our next two overnights at Kakamega Golf Hotel.

DAYS 9-12: (KAKAMEGA VIA LAKE VICTORIA TO MASAI MARA)
After an early breakfast take a journey heading south past Lake Victoria, and onto the Maasai Mara, East Africa's finest wildlife sanctuary. All the big game “Big Five”, Black Rhino, Elephant, Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Zebra, Wildebeest, Hartebeest, Topi, Eland, Thompson and Grant's Gazelles, and many more are all well represented alongside local specialties such as Open-billed Storks, Temmick's Courser, Yellow-throated Sand grouse and Denham's Bustard. We’ll spend our next four nights at Mara Springs Tented Camp.

DAY 13: (MASAI MARA-NAIROBI)
After an early morning game we drive back to Nairobi, arriving mid-afternoon for a Complimentary lunch at Carnivore Restaurant, one of Africa's most famous restaurants for Mouth watering barbecue. Later in the afternoon you will be transferred to the hotel of your choice or transfer to the airport for your onward flight to home.

DAY 14: (NAIROBI-TARANGIRE)
After Breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel by a Tourist Shuttle Bus which will transfer you to Tanzania. After finishing with the immigration procedures you will cross into Tanzania arriving in Arusha for lunch at the Impala Hotel. After lunch and refreshments you will drive to Tarangire National Park for overnight at the Tarangire Tented Safari Lodge. Situated 114km from Arusha, Tarangire National Park boasts magnificent herds of wildlife. The park gets its name from the river those threads its way through the length of the reserve. It is famous for its dense wildlife population. Thousands of animals - wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, and fringe-eared Oryx - migrate from the dry Masai Mara steppe to the Tarangire River looking for water. Lion and other predators follow the herds. Tarangire Safari Lodge is located on a ridge with one of Tanzania's most spectacular panoramic views. The Lodge has 35 tents and bungalows with beds, electricity and en suite toilet and solar heated shower. Dinner and Overnight stay will be at Tarangire Tented Safari Lodge.

DAY 15: (TARANGIRE)
After breakfast you will head out for birding and wildlife viewing in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire is the home of Tanzania's oldest Elephants and bird life is Prolific too. The endemic Ashy Starling and the rare Yellow colored Lovebird are numerous in Tarangire. You will spend the entire day exploring the bushes in Tarangire after which you will return at Tarangire Tented Safari Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.

DAY 16: (TARANGIRE-SERENGETI)
An Early morning drive to the Serengeti National Park will be our focus of the day, which is actually a continuation of the Masai Mara Eco System. The Serengeti National Park is arguably the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world. "Serengeti" means "endless plains" in the Masai language, and within its boundaries are more than three million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals can be seen here including the so called "big five" - elephant, rhino, lion (more than 2,000 of them), Leopard and Buffalo. Most of the plains game congregates in Southern Serengeti, followed by their attendant predators. Some time in May or June the herds migrate North and West in search of water. They remain in North Serengeti and the western corridor during the dry season, July-October, returning South again as the November rains approach. The Wildebeest calving takes place on the short grass plains during late December - early February. In their wake follow the predators; lion cheetah and hunting dogs with vultures circling overhead. Other common species found here include hippo, giraffe, eland, impala and other antelope types, baboons, monkeys and a profusion of almost 500 bird species. Our dinner and overnight stay will be at Seronera Wildlife Lodge.
DAY 17: (SERENGETI)
This morning you will have an optional pre breakfast opportunity to walk around the camp grounds birding, being escorted by a local resident Masai tribesman. You will then embark on a full day on the Serengeti Plains exploring the entire park and as well searching for the two Endemic birds on the plains, which include the Grey Breasted Spur fowl, and the Fisher's Lovebird. Our dinner and overnight stay will be at Seronera Wildlife Lodge.
DAY 18: (SERENGETI-NGORONGORO)After an early game drive and all the wildebeest migration excitement, you will then drive out of the Serengeti plains into the famous Ngorongoro Crater. Overnight at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge. Listed by Unesco as a world heritage site, the incomparable Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest "caldera". A caldera is the broad, crater-like basin of a volcano formed by the collapse of the central cone. Dominated by cliffs standing some 600 meters high and presenting a sheer drop down to a wide open space of some 264 square km, the crater is one of the most amazing sights seen anywhere. The Crater is home to 25,000 larger mammals, almost half of them zebra and wildebeest. There are also gazelle, buffalo, eland, hartebeest and wart hog. Such vast numbers attract predators a plenty, mainly lion and hyena but also cheetah and leopard. More than 100 species of birds not found in the Serengeti have been spotted here. Countless flamingos form a pink blanket over the soda lakes. Our next night will be at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.

DAY 19: (NGORONGORO)
We will spend the hold day with picnic lunches exploring the wonders of Ngorongoro on the Crater floor taking our last wildlife pictures before returning at the lodge for Dinner and Overnight at the Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge.

Day 20: (NGORONGORO-NAIROBI)
Today you will leave Ngorongoro and be transferred to Arusha arriving for an early lunch at the Impala Hotel. After lunch you will be transferred to Nairobi by a Public Tourist Shuttle Bus and later be transferred to Nairobi Airport for your evening flight home, or you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro Airport for your outbound flight depending on your flight arrangements or a Shuttle bus to Nairobi if out bound Flight in Nairobi.

RAFTING & WATER SPORTS:
This can be done in Tana River, Athiriver, Mathioya River and Uaso-Nyiro rivers in Kenya and the Nile in Uganda. One needs no previous experience and has the option to puddle as part of a team or ride in an OAR raft where the guides row the boat. Malewa River whitewater Rafting Trip.
Day 1: Pick up very early from Nairobi and transfer to Naivasha Kigio Wildlife Conservancy in the Rift Valley. Here you view some of the resident wildlife before you head off the property and up to the put in point far upstream. After instruction in rafting techniques and safety on the river you are out in charge of your own 2-3 person raft. The first day is a smooth water session with the occasional small rapid that is easily negotiated with your new skills.
Later in the morning a you pull over to the river bank at a local Kikuyu tribe Homestead and view how rural Kenyans in this region make a living. Onwards we paddle viewing python, waterbuck, and Sykes, Velvet and Colobus monkeys that live in the towering riverbank Acacia trees. You stop for the night at the campsite for a hot shower then join us under the stars for an aperitif before dining under the stars.
Day 2: Now with days paddling experience we tackle rapids up to grade 3+ on the Malewa River negotiating rapids called the Waterfall, Otter and Eland Bend. A magic, fun day where you are in command of your craft. A sense of satisfaction is felt as we near the end of our trip and pull out at Malu lodge. We then transfer you back to Nairobi arriving late evening.

The rafting is guided by experienced guides .

The Tana River
Usually rafted as a day trip the river starts with 3 km of class 2 and 3 rapids, followed by 6 km of calm and scenic river,Abudant Bird life(over 120 species),before a final 7 km offast and exiting Grad 4 and 5 white water.
Calm water section to the camp lasts fot 4 hours

Mathioya River
A day trip for 95 Kms from Nairobi The Mathioya is a narrow, low volume river, which runs for 22 km with a descent of 450 m. The water is not especially big but it is fast flowing and many of the rapids are technically difficult and class 4 and 5.

Athi River
3 days trip .All 450 km of the Athi is raft able and the stretch bordering Tsavo National Park is especially scenic with good game viewing and exciting rapids ranging from class 2 - 4. Fun and adventure all the way.

Ewaso-Ng'iro River
This exciting river trip takes at least 4 days and has long and difficult stretches of white water, ranging from class 3 - 5. The river flows through Samburu National Park as far as Chandler Falls in Shaba National Park. The scenery is spectacular and wildlife abounds. The lower age limit for rafting is 14 with parental consent. There is no upper age limit although individuals should be of at least average fitness and health and should respect the rivers.

MASAI MARA BALLOON SAFARIS EXPERIENCE

Visitors to the Maasai Mara can experience the rare excitement of game viewing from a hot air balloon. In the crisp air of dawn, the passengers drink coffee while the crew partially inflates the balloon with enormous fans. The balloons lift off just before sunrise when the breeze on the plains is still cold. Once airborne, the balloons are blown by the prevailing winds across the broad landscape. Apart from the hiss of the burners, the flight above the Masai mara plains is magically silent. The pilot controls the height of the craft by regulating the flow of hot air into the balloon. Sometimes the balloon will descend over the plains for a close up view of the wildlife; on other occasions, it rises to clear a tree canopy and rise over the reverine forest.

Clients staying in any of the lodges or camps on the east side of the reserve can be collected and returned by our specially equipped 4 wheel drive vehicles to enjoy both a balloon flight and a game drive back to the lodge or camp:

10:00am At the end of the flight, the passengers are treated to a champagne breakfast, complete with flowers. China and crystal are set out on the table that is placed under a convenient acacia tree. The finishing touch to the flight is a game drive back to the lodge or camp, and the possibility of seeing the same pride of lions, or herd of elephants that had been viewed while ballooning. Over a dozen balloons depart from sites near six of the lodges and tented camps. Our customers are often able to view four of the 'big five' while ballooning. DAY 1 – NAIROBI TO NAIVASHA

Depart Nairobi in the early morning towards Lake Naivasha.

Arrive Fish Eagle campsite/Lodge. Proceed on a boat ride to Crescent Island, 15 minutes. This is a private game sanctuary where you can wander on foot among herds of zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, vervet monkeys, hares, genet cats, waterbuck and giraffe. It is also a great place for birdwatching, with over 300 species of birds on display.

After lunch, the options include visiting Elsamere Conservation center, relaxing by the poolside or partaking in sport fishing on the lake (all at additional extra costs). The Elsamere center is a conservation center focused on environmental awareness programmes as well as a memorial museum for the late Joy Adamson of Born Free fame. Dinner and overnight camping/Lodge back at Fish eagle/Lodge.

DAY 2 – NAIVASHA TO NAKURU

Early morning breakfast before breaking camp/Lodge towards nearby Lake Nakuru for a game drive. The park is home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard. White and black rhinos were introduced to the park some years ago and you may find white rhino at the southern end. The park has also retained its reputation amongst bird enthusiasts with more than 400 species of bird found here. We spend the night at a campsite/Lodge just outside of town.

DAY 3 – NAKURU TO KAKAMEGA

Early breakfast before breaking camp and departing towards the shores of Lake Victoria.

Lunch en route before arriving at Kakamega forest. Here we enjoy a guided walk through the only mid-altitude rainforest in Kenya (a remnant of Central Africa rainforests). This national park is home to over 300 bird species, over 350 tree species, 27 species of “friendly” snakes and 400 butterfly species. Further attractions include the endangered DeBrazza monkey, the majestic blue and white colobus monkey, flying squirrels and potto (the world’s slowest mammal) making it a great place to explore. Dinner and overnight camping/Lodge in the reserve.

DAY 4 – KOGELO/ KISUMU

Depart the pristine forests of Kakamega after a hearty breakfast towards the small rural village of Kogelo – the birthplace of Barrack Obama’s father. Explore the humble village and experience the community warmth enjoyed by the peoples of Kenya. In the morning after breakfast, drive towards Kericho, famous for its tea plantations arriving in the afternoon time for lunch,in the afternoon We can have the local excursions and learn more about culture and life of the tribes in Kericho town.Dinner and overnight at the campsite / lodge in Kericho.After morning Breakfast, depart towards Narok and the Masai mara game reserve. Arrive in the afternoon with lunch en-route at our semi-permanent Talek riverside campsite/Lodge situated at the edge of the park. Here we have stand-up tents/Lodge with beds for use as well as small wood cabins for those after a touch more comfort. Hot showers are available in the camp/Lodge and meals are served in the dinning mess or in the open.

DAY 7 – MASAI MARA

Full day spent exploring the Mara game reserve through early morning and late afternoon game drives. Wherever you go in the Mara you will see a frequent amount of wildlife such as Masai giraffe, baboons, warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topis, impala, hartebeests, wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos also exist in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot but are still reasonably common.

Day 8 – Nairobi
We break camp and drive to Narok where Masai souvenirs can be bought, then back to your Nairobi Hotel by late afternoon.

DAY2:Watamu National Marine Park
Situated right in front of the hotel, this is one of Africa’s oldest Marine Parks and is renowned for its rich diversity of fish and corals. Guests are welcome to enjoy the beauty of this underwater world as much as they like.

DAY3:Snorkelling
Snorkelling excursions in a glass bottom boat are available to view the variety of colourful fishes and corals, guided by a marine biologist or unguided.

DAY4:Scuba Diving
Organised Diving School at the Water Sports Centre. The School, established more than twenty years ago, is run by qualified professionals and is well known in Europe.

DAY5:Mida Creek
A vast sandy tidal inlet with extensive mangrove forests just inland from Watamu. The Club offers Dhow sailing trips into the inlet to observe the spectacular gathering of flamingos, storks, herons, spoonbills, pelicans and migratory wading birds from Eurasia and South Africa. Majestic fish eagles and ospreys can be seen diving for fish. Serious bird watchers can drive twenty minutes to the mud flats on the west side of the estuary where crab-plovers, Terek Sandpipers, and thousands of other waders congregate.

DAY6:Gede Ruins
Situated about eight kilometers from the hotel, the ruins are a significant feature of Kenya's heritage. One of the Kenya guide-books says that "even if you are resolutely uninterested in seeing any of the other sites on the coast, don't miss this one". The ruins are hidden within similar forest to the Arabuko Sokoke complex and date from the 13th Century. They are an eerie and enigmatic relic of an unknown peoples of whom there are no historical records. Only partially excavated, the ruins are surrounded by forests and massive trees. Shady trails wind past structures with mysterious names like the Great Mosque, House of the Dhow and the Tomb of the Fluted Pillar. Sykes monkey, hornbills and Palm-nut Vultures may be sighted in the forest.

DAY7:Bio-Ken Snake Farm
Bio-Ken is a research centre, which deals with reptiles, especially snakes and snake-bite. Located less than 5 minutes drive from the hotels in Watamu it houses the largest collection of Snakes in East Africa and is open to the public.

DAY8:Deep Sea Fishing
The game fishing off Watamu is world famous for its large marlin and sail-fish. A neighbouring fishing hotel offers fishing trips to Turtle Bay guests. The season is normally closed due to poor weather between May and September.

DAY9:Arabuko-Sokoke Forest
Covering an area of some 400 km2, the forest is one of the few patches of indigenous tropical coastal forests remaining in East Africa. At its closest point it is less than fifteen minutes drive from the Club. The diversity of plants, birds and butterflies produce wonderful richness of life within the forest that is both exciting and appealing to the visitor.

DAY10:Dolphin Watching Trips
Three or four species of dolphin are regularly seen off shore from Watamu from the fishing boats. Turtle Bay now offers a special excursion using local fishing boats to look for and watch dolphins during the season of calmer weather (end of October – early April).

DAY11:Kipepeo Butterfly Farm
This project works with local forest adjacent farmers to raise butterflies for export to butterfly houses in Europe and America. It has an excellent visitor centre and flight cage where guests can see butterflies at close range and learn about the marvels of their lifestyle and the benefits of the project to the local communities. Turtle Bay supports the work of Kipepeo through it’s Community & Conservation Programme.

DAY12:Hell’s Kitchen
Experience Kenya’s own Grand Canon! After a scenic drive through Malindi, over the Sabaki River Bridge and through rural villages, enjoy the views of this naturally eroded landscape. Descend into the “Kitchen” with a local guide who will point out strange features carved by wind and rain; a map of Africa, a rhino head and a sacred worship site.Lunch-enroute and later back to you hotel. Dinner and overnight to be provided.

Nile Perch Fishing in Lake Victoria Uganda is incredible!! The Ssese Islands, a small cluster of over 80 islands off Entebbe, Uganda, are an untouched paradise. Most are uninhabited except by itinerant local fishermen, and are covered in thick, tropical forest home to monkeys and birds. Fish of over 80 kg have been caught. The main method of fishing in the lake is trolling with lures, although fly fishing has been tried as has live bait. Apart from the Nile perch, local tilapia of up to 5kg have been caught on bait. In the Nile river, below Murchison Falls, the fishing is normally with live bait, and apart from perch, catfish of over 50kg are often caught.

Day 1

On your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by your safari guide who will transfer you to your hotel in Kampala.

Day 2

After breakfast, you will drive from Kampala through Uganda's rolling green hills to Murchison falls National Park. In the late afternoon we will descend to the base of Murchison falls themselves and fish the evening for three hours. A relative level of fitness will be required as the decent is relatively steep. In the dramatic pools below the legendary waterfall we will be targeting the large Nile Perch which can have been caught in these waters over 100 Kilos. We will then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3

This morning you will fish the river Nile by boat below the world renowned Murchison falls for the Nile perch and other species several of which can be taken on a fly including the Awaka a small tiger and the Ungara. You will spend the whole day fishing from the boat and the shore. The boat trip is also excellent for game viewing as you will be fishing in one of the best game areas on the Nile which can prove very exciting at times.

Day 4

Today we will fish the big pools below the falls with lures, live bait and flies for the large perch. Again there are other species that can provide excellent sport. We will take a picnic and plenty of cold drinks and spend the day on these magnificent pools.

After breakfast, drive to the top of the falls and later proceed to Entebbe and over night at Boma Guest house. F/B

Spend the whole day Victoria on all the neighboring Island of Lake Victoria returning to Entebbe in the evening and over night at Boma Guest house. F/B.

Day 8

Day 1

After early breakfast, start on your long drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will have a brief stop over at the Equator for a photographic opportunity and also listen to some interesting experience of water turning clockwise at the equator.

The drive will take you through the grasslands of Ankole. Further west, you will enjoy the famous long horned cattle before proceeding to the highlands of Kigezi. Visitors usually refer to the beautifully terraced hills in this part of Uganda as the "Switzerland of Africa”. Stop for lunch in Mbarara. Continue the journey throughout the beautiful scenery. Arrive in Bwindi National park (home of the rare mountain gorillas) in the evening.

Apart from Gorillas, a more variety of primates are found in this dense natural forest. They include the red and blue tailed monkeys, colubus and velvet monkeys. This bushy and green forest has a number of streams running through it with Munyaga river being the biggest.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, you walk to the park offices for briefing by your guides. You will then set off to your expedition. The thrill of your encounter in this natural forest will erase the difficulties of the potentially strenuous trek. Bring jungle boots and rain jackets because the park is often wet.

The time you take to find gorillas will depend on the movement of these gentle giants.

Visitors spend one hour with the gorillas watching them go about with their activities. You are likely to enjoy the close view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in delightfully playful display.

After your memorable time with the gorillas, you will return to your camp exhilarated but very excited! You will relieve the encounter with friends over a drink. Have dinner and over night.

Or Should you have the energy, you will go for a village walk, see how Ugandans live, visit the local medicine man!
