This is also the tomb site of the first three bishops, the founder of Leon, and the first governors of Nicaragua. The view from here is absolutely beautiful - with Lake Xolotlant and Momotombo Volcano in the distance you will have excellent photo opportunities.

Cerro Negro is just 45 minutes from Leon city. It is the smallest but most active volcano of the Maribios Chain volcanic complex, with only 726 meters above sea level. You can climb to the top in approximately 1 hour and descend on the other side in less than 5 minutes using your feet like skies to slide at your own pace in the volcanic sand. Before reaching the top you will have the option to enter inside and explore one of the 5 active craters. The view from the top is spectacular; from here you can see almost the entire Maribios Chain and Leon city in the distance.
