Central Park, Doylestown, PA

2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,

Park, 425 Wells Road Doylestown, PA 18901 The kids castle is an 8 story compressed wood castle. It has secret compartments, slides , ropes , bouncy bridges. Parents can just sit by in the ampitheater next to the edfice and relax. Very clean, well-made park. Very unique, kept my kids busy for a couple hours. It is free which is even better! One drawback is that a lot of people have discovered this park and it was very busy when we were there but the kids still had fun. Not a ton of shade so be prepared. There are picnic tables so feel free to pack a lunch. There are also water fountains and regular bathrooms available. When were were there, 2 ice cream trucks were making the rounds, too, so bring some cash. We pack a lunch bring balls, and bikes or scooters. it's a great place for a day trip. The castle is located in Doylestown central park. Which is an 108 arce area dedicated to passive and non passive recreation.

It is a little over 3 miles from downtown Doylestown, PA Thanks Doylestown for providing a wonderful place for her to use her imagination!!!

The Liberty Bell Center

1 Recommendations: 1 Favorable,

from www.VisitPhilly.com Visitor Details The center is open year round, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., with extended hours in the summer. No tickets are required for admission to the Liberty Bell, however, visitors must go through security screening to gain entrance to the center. The Experience The Liberty Bell has a new home, and it is as powerful and dramatic as the Bell itself. Throughout the expansive, light-filled Center, larger-than-life historic documents and graphic images explore the facts and the myths surrounding the Bell. X-rays give an insider’s view, literally, of the Bell’s crack and inner-workings. In quiet alcoves, a short History Channel film, available in English and eight other languages, traces how abolitionists, suffragists and other groups adopted the Bell as its symbol of freedom. Other exhibits show how the Bell’s image was used on everything from ice cream molds to wind chimes. Keep your camera handy. Soaring glass walls offer dramatic and powerful views of both the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, just a few steps away. History The bell now called the Liberty Bell was cast in the Whitechapel Foundry in the East End of London and sent to the building currently known as Independence Hall, then the Pennsylvania State House, in 1753. It was an impressive looking object, 12 feet in circumference around the lip with a 44-pound clapper. Inscribed at the top was part of a Biblical verse from Leviticus, “Proclaim Liberty throughout all the Land unto all the Inhabitants thereof.” Unfortunately, the clapper cracked the bell on its first use. A couple of local artisans, John Pass and John Stow, recast the bell twice, once adding more copper to make it less brittle and then adding silver to sweeten its tone. No one was quite satisfied, but it was put in the tower of the State House anyway. Fast Facts The Liberty Bell is composed of approximately 70 percent copper, 25 percent tin and traces of lead, zinc, arsenic, gold and silver. The Bell is suspended from what is believed to be its original yoke, made of American elm. The Liberty Bell weighs 2,080 pounds. The yoke weighs about 100 pounds.

916 S Swanson St

1 Recommendations: 1 Favorable,

Gloria Dei, is one of the remnants of the Swedes who settled Pennsylvania before William Penn, Gloria Dei is also known as the old Swedes Church. It has numerous intriguing religious artifacts such as the 16th centuries Bible, once owned by Queen Chistina of Sweden. The carvings on the lectern and balcony were salvaged from the congregation's first church. Models of the ships that transported the Swedish settlers hang from the ceiling of the church. Grouped around the church are the the parish hall, the care-taker's house, the rectory and the guild house. The church sits in the center of its graveyard. It forms a picture that is pleasing in its simplicity and tranquility.
