Fort Cooper State Park

A wonderful place to picnic, bike, and hike. A swimming area is available along with paddle wheel boats and canoes. Be sure you take your bicycles and ride the park trail to where it meets the 46-mile Withlacoochee State Trail (Rails to Trails) for a flat, paved bike trail through some of Florida's prettiest scenery. About five miles south of the park is the historic town of Floral City, which is a nice rest area before returning to the park or biking farther south. A great way to spend a relaxing day that doesn't cost much ($3 per car).

Banana Islandis an artificial island in Lagos State, Nigeria. It is located in the Lagos Lagoon and attached to the North-Eastern Ikoyi Island by a dedicated road strip which is linked to the existing road network. It was constructed by HiTech, the construction arm of the Chagoury Group and is a joint venture with the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. The banana-shaped Island is approximately 1,630,000 square metres in size (less than a square mile) and is divided into 536 plots (of between 1000 and 4000 square metres in size) mainly arranged along cul-de-sacs, so designed to enhance the historically residential nature of Ikoyi. Residents are provided world class utilities including underground electrical systems (versus the overhead cabling common throughout Lagos), an underground water supply network, a central sewage system and treatment plant, and street lighting and satellite telecommunications networks. The developers also intend to develop a main piazza, a club-house, a primary and secondary school, a fire and police station and a medical clinic. They are also negotiating to build a 5-star hotel on the island, along with an array of smaller Guest Houses.

Appleton Museum of Art

A little gem of a museum that is only 45 minutes from The Villages. Permanent collections are interesting but the rotating exhibits are always wonderful and unique. Take advantage of the Appleton's awesome "Trips & Tours" program.
