Al Bastakiya
4 Recommendations: 4 Favorable,
Bastakiya is a district you will not want to miss, especially if you are interested in learning what Dubai is all about. The Bastakiya district has been earmarked for tourist development, with the construction of a museum, cultural Center, and an art gallery that showcases local talent. The old Bastakiya district with its narrow lanes and tall wind-towers gives a tantalizing glimpse of old Dubai. Immediately to the east of Al Fahidi Fort is the largest concentration of traditional courtyard houses with wind towers. In the past, the city was famous for a mass of wind towers that lined the Creek on either side. These wind towers were not just decorative. They were the only means of cooling houses in the days before mains electricity. Bastakiya is a bustling market and cultural center of Dubai. The original, old city of Dubai is just one per cent of the modern city we see today. The district is filled with traditional courtyard houses and classic wind towers, which offer a charming glimpse of how Dubai once looked.

Zabeel Park
4 Recommendations: 4 Favorable,
Stargate Dubai is an educational and entertainment theme park in Zabeel Park, Dubai, open September 2009 just in time for Eid Al Fitr. The Stargate Park is divided into 5 domes around a food court in the Central Pyramid, and is supposed to resemble a space ship in keeping with the space age theme of the amusement park. Apparently the story behind the Stargate Park is that a couple of aliens, Ajeeb and Gareeb, crash landed their spacecraft in Zabeel Park. Why a spaceship would have an ice rink, roller coaster, and food court is somewhat curious though. Opening times Saturday-Wednesday 1000-2200 (10am-10pm) and Thursday-Friday 1000-0000 (10am-midnight) Entry is free. Visitors buy a plastic card for AED 2 and then add credit to use the Stargate facilities. Charges for rides are the same for adults and children.
