Las Penas, Guayaquil

9 Recommendations: 9 Favorable,

This is Numa Pomplio Llona Street (Las Peñas ) one of the best places in Guayaquil. You must see it, many local artists have their workshops in here and show their art to visitors. Nice and safe to walk. Get a chance to discover it by yourself. Do not get mislead by the other pictures which are taken at Santa Ana Hill, those are not taken in Las Peñas...just search NUMA POMPILIO LLONA street and you will find your way to discover this nice place.

Punta del Este

8 Recommendations: 8 Favorable,

Beautiful place with many things to do. My favorite is just to walk along the "rambla" seaside on the peninsula, and visit the yacht port. Lot of nice restaurantes nearby, lot of hotels and apartments to rent. Estancias nearby, natural beaches, and crowded ones... During January hundred of thousands of tourists and lot of things to do, from parasailing, to dance until the sun raises.

San Marino

8 Recommendations: 8 Favorable,

Very nice restaurant and pub, with a lot of TVs and even a large projection screen, is a perfect location to watch important games with a bunch of friends. Located in the second floor of the shopping center, is easy to get parking and very safe at night. Dishes are exquisites, the food is a kind of Tex-mex, and you have a lot of choices for snacks also. It's a nice place to have a family time for lunch or dinner with quiet music, but after 20:00 it's more like a pub or bar. Recommended.

Liberdade, São Paulo - SP

8 Recommendations: 8 Favorable,

Liberdade (“freedom” in Portuguese) is São Paulo's Asian district. Even though Liberdade features various Asian businesses, its origins and main cultural references are markedly Japanese, and so it's commonly referred to as the Japanese district. Most historical information for this profile comes from Culturajaponesa.com, a fantastic online resource about Japanese culture in Brazil. Location: Liberdade's central location is a major plus for visitors and the best way to get there is by the São Paulo Subway . There is a station on Liberdade Square, at the very center of the area's action. Liberdade Station is on the blue line, one stop away from Sé, the main hub of São Paulo's subway system and the city's official center. Main Attractions: Besides its many Asian shops, Liberdade is home to: * The Historical Museum of Japanese Immigration in Brazil * The Liberdade Fair Origins of Liberdade: The first Japanese immigrants in Brazil arrived in 1908 to work on the coffee plantations of the Southeast, especially in São Paulo State. Gradually, groups of immigrants established themselves in the state capital, São Paulo, then undergoing a massive growth process that owed a lot to the booming coffee business. By 1912, the area now known as Liberdade had become popular among Japanese immigrants looking for an affordable place to live. Difficult Times: In the 1940s, Liberdade was a thriving area with many businesses tending to the Japanese community, Japanese schools, baseball games on the weekends and newspapers published in Japanese. In 1941, the Brazilian government suspended the publication of all newspapers in Japanese. When President Getúlio Vargas’s administration broke diplomatic relations with Japan in 1942, all the residents in the main Japanese enclave in the Liberdade area were expelled from their homes and could only return after World War II ended. Important Changes: Liberdade underwent major changes in the 1960s and 1970s. Chinese and Korean immigrants moved in; the São Paulo subway system was built and the area gained a station; Asian-style street lamps were put in place; the district got its current name. Most improvements were initiated by Tsuyoshi Mizumoto, a Japanese businessman who wanted to honor his native land and show gratitude to his adopted country. Festivals: Liberdade Square and the neighboring streets host several celebrations. Among the most popular are the Chinese New Year and Sendai Tanabata Matsuri, in July, which celebrates a love legend and during which people tie pieces of paper with their wishes to decorative bamboo.

Hotel Yacht y Golf Club

8 Recommendations: 8 Favorable,

Well, this hotel was made for honeymooners! The river view from many of its room is amazing! For me it's the most complete hotel for people who love peace and want some time away from the noise. It has a huge swimming pool, a spa, gym, a golf court, and of course people can enjoy water sports. The food is fine at the restaurante. One disadvantage of this place is that it's far from downtown, but it worth to stay at the Yacht y Golf Club Hotel.

Teleferico Quito

8 Recommendations: 8 Favorable,

Another classic spot for killer views of Quito is the Teleferico. Take a 10min ride up in the 6 person carriage from 2,950 meters up to 4,050 meters of altitude. It costs around $8/person. At the top you can take it easy by just strolling around enjoying the views from the watch station, grab a bite at one of the cafes or check out the gift shops (but keep in mind like most tourist hot spots things are a little overpriced there), or if you're in shape and somewhat acclimatised to Quito's altitude try taking a little hike up the hill for more views and a closer look at the mountains, you can even take a horseback tour and make a day of it. It's worth it to feel on top of the world for a day!

Las Peñas, Guayaquil

Las Peñas is historically the most important neighborhood of Guayaquil, for though their houses have only about 100 years, its formal and structural characteristics are very similar to those of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Home to illustrious men Each house has its own history. Here lived the famous people of politics and culture of the country, as the musician Antonio Neumane, presidents Francisco Robles, Jose Luis Tamayo, Carlos Julio Arosemena Tola, Alfredo Baquerizo Moreno, Eloy Alfaro, writer Enrique Gil Gilbert, the historian Rafael Pino Roca, the painter Manuel Rendón Seminario, Alfredo Espinosa Tamayo, Juan Montalvo, the teacher Rita Lecumberry, and even Ernesto "Che" Guevara was passing through this district and served as a pediatrician for free among the people. It was also the cradle of industrial, housewives, fishermen and sailors, characters who thrive on the daily life of the city. Art Shows In the late sixties, Luis Hidalgo Baquerizo and Eloy Alfaro Avilés pioneered artistic exhibitions in Las Peñas. Showing young painters and paintings from the Quito School and replica Monard, Rembrandt and Renault, each July 24 in the evening. This is just one example of the intense cultural life that has always been the neighborhood.

Plaza De Acho

7 Recommendations: 7 Favorable,

A wonderful old place, full of atmosphere. Of course no all must agree with the corrida, I don't, but I must say the place is really nice. If you go to San Cristobal hill you could see this old building from a nice and different sight.
