Hanul dacilor

3 Recommendations: 3 Favorable,

What makes "Hanul Dacilor" an authentic and special place in Cluj-Napoca is the fact that it serves quite a lot of traditional Romanian dishes which can't be found in only a few restaurants in Cluj-Napoca for example one of my favorite dishes is the soup served in a bread not in plate or the Romanian "sarmale" or "mamaliga". Another fun fact about the restaurant is the fact that besides the rural decor the waiters and waitresses are dressed in Dacians (the ancient people that lived in Romania before the Roman conquest of 106 A.D.). It is not expensive but it isn't cheap either for a taste of authentic Romanian food it's quite ideal for any foreign tourist.

Biserica Sfântul Mihail

3 Recommendations: 3 Favorable,

This is a XIV. century Hungarian church, belonging to the Roman-Catholics, built in Gothic style. The construction began during the time of king Sigismund of Luxemburg, and lasted for about 100 years, due to the scarce material possibilities of the population. This church is a beautiful example of the Transylvanian region's Gothic architecture.

It has been founded in 1830. The Music Pavilion was built in 1871, where wedding ceremonies are celebrated nowadays,in summer time. Two statues, one for the poet George Cosbuc and the other for writer Liviu Rebreanu were placed here. It is a romantic, nostalgic and valorous Park , where every generation can feel the old times' feeling of Cluj.

Biserica Sfântul Mihail din Cluj

2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,

The Church of Saint Michael is a Gothic-style Roman Catholic church in Cluj-Napoca. It is the second largest church (after the Black Church of Brasov) in Transylvania, Romania. The nave is 50 meters long and 24 meters wide, the apse is 20×10 m. The tower with its height of 76 meter (80 meter including the cross) is the highest one in Transylvania. The western portal is decorated with the three coats of arms of Sigismund as King of Hungary, as King of the Czech Kingdom and as Holy Roman Emperor. The construction was begun probably in place of the Saint James Chapel. The financing of the church was partly done by the citizens, partly from the income of indulgences. (The first related document from 1349, signed by the archbishop of Avignon and fifteen other bishops grants the indulgence for those contributing to the illumination and furniture of the Saint Michael Church.) The construction was completed between 1442-1447, the old tower was built between 1511-1545. The tower that stands today was erected in 1862. The church was Protestant between 1545-1566, and Unitarian in the period 1566-1716, after that it was reconfiscated by the Catholic Church during the counter-reformation.

Eroilor Boulevard

2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,

The most popular avenue of Cluj-Napoca, the Eroilor Boulevard connects the two main sites of interest of the city: the Unirii Square with the Avram Iancu Square. It is a great place to take a walk through or just sit down and have a coffee, especially between the months of april and september, as the main cafes open their terraces on the sidewlk of the boulevard. The most beatuiful cathedrals are found in the squares located at the ends of the avenue: Saint Michael's Church (Unirii Square) and the Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral (Avram Iancu Square). Next to the Avram Iancu Square you can also find the National Theatre's building.

Teatrul National

2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,

The Lucian Blaga National Theatre (Romanian: Teatrul Naţional Lucian Blaga) in Cluj-Napoca, Romania is one of the most prestigious theatrical institutions in Romania. The theatre shares the same building with the Romanian Opera. The theatre was built between 1904 and 1906 by the famous Austrian architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer who designed several theatres and palaces across Europe in the late 19th century and early 20th century, including the theatres in Iaşi, Oradea, Timişoara and Chernivtsi (Romanian: Cernăuţi). The theatre opened on 8 September 1906 with Ferenc Herczeg's Bujdosók and until 1919, as Cluj was part of the Kingdom of Hungary, it was home to the local Hungarian National Theatre (Hungarian: Nemzeti Színház). The last performance of the Hungarian troupe was held on September 30, 1919 and presented Shakespeare's Hamlet: "Horatio, I am dead; / Thou livest; report me and my cause aright / To the unsatisfied. Since 1919, the building has been home to the local Romanian National Theatre and Romanian Opera, while the local Hungarian Theatre and Opera received the theatre building in Emil Isac street, close to the Central Park and Someşul Mic River. The hall initially had a capacity of 928 places, being conceived in the Neo-baroque style, with some inflexions inspired by the Secessionism in the decoration of the foyer. Between 1950 and 1956 the stage house was extended to 1200 seats.

Grădina Botanică Cluj Napoca

2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,

The Botanical Garden is affiliated to the “Babes-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca; it was founded in 1920 by the university professor Alexandru Borza. The garden is organized based on rigorous scientific principles as far as the plant classification and phytogeography are concerned; this is harmoniously combined with the artistic refinement which turns it into an extremely charming and picturesque site. The garden spreads over 14 hectares of hilly land, which seems to favor successfully the growth of extremely diverse types of plants, coming from every corner of the world. The plant collections account for around 10,000 distinctive groups. The area is divided into several sections based on the special type of the plants: ornamental, phytogeographic, systematic, economic and medicinal. The Romanian flora is well represented by the vegetation characteristic to the Transylvanian Plain, to the Carpathian Mountains, to the regions of Banat and Oltenia, to the seaside dunes I
