Ogoja is a Local Government Area in Cross River State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the town of Ogaja in the north-east of the area near the A4 highway at 6°39′17″N 8°47′51″E / 6.65472°N 8.7975°E / 6.65472; 8.7975. It has an area of 972 km² and a population of 171,901 at the 2006 census. The postal code of the area is 550. The town was one of the provinces during pre-colonial independence. It comprises of many tribes, which includes: Ishibori (This village has different clans like Uhmuria, Ikaptang, Ikajor, Ishinyema, Ikariku, Imerakorm) and Igoli as the central town. Mbube being one of the major tribes consist of different villages which includes: Odajie, Adagum, Ekumtak, Idum, Ojirim, Egbe,Nkim, Ogberia 1 & 2,Oboso,Benkpe, Edide, Bansan, Aragban,Keruen,etc. their major source of livelihood is subsistence agriculture, basically farming of cassava, yams, palm oil, palm wine etc.

agbokin waterfalls

Some short distance away from the Nigeria-Cameroon border is the very captivating sight called Agbokim Waterfalls. The Falls situated in Cross River State lies less than 30km from Ikom and is highly recommended for picnics. The falls are pleasantly surrounded by green vegetation.

afi mountain wildlife sanctuary

Its a wildlife resort located within the north west portion of the afi river in ikom.It has the best protected area for drills in the world.Within this area wild drills and other endangered primates (chimpanzee and some gorilla sub species)still survive.The sanctuary is currently managed by the cross river state forestry commission in partnership with some conservation NGOs like WCS, Fauna and Flora International, Nigerian conservation Foundation and Pandrillius

AFI MOUNTAIN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

Afi Mountains is the home to the drill and other endangered primates including the Nigerian chimpanzee Pan troglodytes vellerosus, and the most endangered gorilla subspecies, the Cross River gorilla diehli. Afi sanctuary is also host to the Afi Mountain Canopy Walkway which are a series of suspension bridges linked to platforms on trees. They start-off from a hillside slope through flat ground using inclined bridges. The rugged massif (1400m) is a critical watershed for dozens of communities. It is listed as an IBA (Important Bird Area) for Nigeria and hosts one of the largest migratory swallow roosts in Africa. The forests on Afi are a barrier against the encroaching derived savannah from the west and north.
