Mahabalipuram, also known as Mamallapuram is a town in Kancheepuram district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It has an average elevation of 12 metres (39 feet). Mahabalipuram was a 7th century port city of the South Indian dynasty of the Pallavas around 60 km south from the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. The name Mamallapuram is believed to have been given after the Pallava king Narasimhavarman I, who took on the epithet Maha-malla (great wrestler), as the favourite sport of the Pallavas was wrestling. It has various historic monuments built largely between the 7th and the 9th centuries, and has been classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

This is one of the best places in chennai to have hot hot appams / hoppers. The best dish that goes along with hoppers is coconut milk / onion ulithiliyel , this is a speciality in this restaurant , and am sure u wouldnt have tasted anything like this anywhere else. U get other regular south / north indian fares too - veg and non - veg . Usually crowded over lunch / dinner especially over the weekends. U could see a big office going crowd on the weekdays. Have a gud time eating here. Cheers. Also available in OMR Road too.

Dolphin City

Dolphin city is an exclusive amusement park in the ECR Road which is situated about 46 km from Chennai. It is part of the Little Folks amusement park which is bag opposite to the Dolphin city. As the name suggests, the park is meant for recreation from Dolphins. There were initially four Dolphins shipped and used to provide entertainment to their audiences. But unfortunately, the dolphins couldn’t adapt to the surroundings and they died. This forced the authorities to look at other alternatives. Thus sea lions were brought and they still enthrall the audience. The important attraction of the Dolphin city is of course, the sea lions. Some other features of Dolphin City include, Leisure Boating, Open Air Theatre, Disco Scooter, Slide Swimming Pool Under Water View Tea Cup, Animal Simulator, Chuck Wagon Dragon Ride and many more.. There are some fine eateries in this amusement park. A multi cuisine restaurant of international standards caters to the food needs of the visitors. Besides small eateries can be found which supplies snacks and other drinks. An important feature of the Dolphin city is the curio shop where in you can purchase gifts and other accessories. This shop is very popular with tourists and other visitors. The Dolphin City is open more or less throughout the year. This is an exclusive amusement park and a must visit for the youngsters.

Muttukadu

This is a large lake formed out of the backwaters from Bay of Bengal. It has boating and wind surfing facilities. It is located at a distance of 80 km from Kanchipuram . The backwaters of Muttukkadu have been developed by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation to serve as a picnic spot and a center for water sports. Training and demonstration programmes are also organised for beginners.

It hosts various collectibles from the ancient tamil kingdoms to the most recent historical monuments. Best place to visit if you have an interest in history and culture. A bonus attraction is the Connemara library attached to the museum.

Its a very historical place. Accoring to a story there were seven temples originally constructed out of which only one is left. Rest have gone underwaters. Pandavas during their exile stayed at Tiger cave. One more interesting thing about this place is that it was huge rock resting on a very small base.

Excellent place for budget dining. Dont miss the Vada Pavs along with the mirchi served here. Chaat items are authentic bombay style ... Start the main course with onion or aloo parathas with pickle and curd , and u will truly relish them. Pasha is a High class nighlife spot in Chennai, its located in the Hotel Park, its open from 7 pm to 01.00 am in the morning, No stags allowed, entry fee is about Rs.2000, will get cover charge for Rs.1000, quite expensive though, but a nice place to hangout on weekends, Saturdays can be very crowded, so head to club little early, Clubs in Chennai close little after 12 in the midnight, not like other countries. So have fun :)
