Rock Garden
2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,
The ROCK garden in Chandigarh is a unique artificial construct. Made by Nek Chand, a supervisor with the Chandigarh buildings and roadways authority during the 1950's through 60's to the 70's. Nek Chand started picking up discarded construction item from all the building sites that he saw overseeing and started constructing figures in an out of the way part of the city zone for his own pleasure. Over time he amassed a huge collection which he then started arranging in lots and scenically according to his own sense of aesthetics. The result - The Rock Garden. Acclaimed world wide and now a heritage item. Nek Chand is a much in demand man now. You cannot miss the Rock garden even if just passing through Chandigarh. MUST VISIT! :-)

Shiv Misthan Bhandar in Sector 18 C is the place you want to go to when you want a quick takeaway of delicious Indian ready to eat stuff. Their Kachoris, Samosas, and other eats are prepared hygienically, tasty and spicy! They have a great collection of sweets, my favourites are the Kaju (cashew) preparations. They have this wicked drink which they put together! It is soooo tasty and full of calories and stuff! Positively sinful! I love it!

Chandigarh
2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,
Chandigarh is the best-planned city in India, with architecture which is world-renowned, and a quality of life, which is unparalleled. As the capital of the states of Punjab and Haryana, and the Union Territory of Chandigarh it is a prestigious city. The face of modern India, Chandigarh, is the manifestation of a dream that Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru envisaged and Le Corbusier executed. Serenity and a city are two diametrically opposite concepts, which however, get belied in the 'City Beautiful'. Chandigarh is a rare epitome of modernization co-existing with nature's preservation. It is here that the trees and plants are as much a part of the construction plans as the buildings and the roads. India’s first planned city, is a rich, prosperous, spic and span, green city rightly called “ THE CITY BEAUTIFUL ”.

The Aroma
2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,
I remember Aroma Hotel from my first visit to Chandigarh in December 1959! We stayed here for three days. I have fond memories of the fine old Hotel and its different restaurants during these past years! Good comfortable and reasonably priced accommodation, nice eating within and in the close vicinity. The Aroma Hotel should be brought into the heritage list and is a must visit!
