Zeche Zollverein

A nice industrial museum, one of those few places in essen, that remained safe from bombing of the city in WW2. Check out the website 1st to know the events going on at this place. There is an outdoor swimming pool as well in summers, which is in a channel that was previously used for metal. It has a Gold museum inside. just plan your visit, otherwise it could be a boring place

Burghof Galerie Restaurante Gaststätte
1 Recommendations: 1 Favorable,
The Burghof has a very romantic biergarden! If you stay in the city is great to hire a bike and ride along the river Rhine and make this your destination for a nice cool beer and some decent grub! In case you are to tired to cycle all the way back in the dark after enjoying the sunset you can easily take the tram/subway back to the city centre.

Well Eigelstein has the best Sunday brunch to offer in Dusseldorf. It isnt cheap but what you get for your money is great. Personnel are friendly. Do not forget to reserve in advance as you will not get a seat on a Sunday morning. Families are most welcome (there is a small playing area for the kids)

Kath. Dompfarramt Hohe Domkirche Münsterkirche
1 Recommendations: 1 Favorable,
This is an old peaceful and quite pretty cathedral worth looking at. Ist octagonal tower lies within the busy inner city of Essen on the Kettwiger street. The main building is gothic. It has one of the oldest sacred treassures of the occident: the golden Madonna! The cathedral also has an 1000 year old replication of an candleholder with its seven holders (Menorah). It was founded 852 by the holy bishop Alfried who also was the closest adviser of Emperor Ludwig at this time. The cathedral was also a retreat for rich peoples girls (unmarried) who were kept under the strict attendance of the abbess. Of an invaluable magnitude is the cathedrals treasure chamber that is worth around 100 Million Euros.
