Catedral de La Serena

This is the oldest church of the city, was built in the XVII century and it's in the middle of the historic center of the city. The cathedral use to be open for visitors but you must wear an apropiate clothe to be inside. It's the most important religious building of the City.

its a very beautiful place...in the midle of the town, just ch$600.- (1.5 US$) quiet place, nice. for a relax day...no need take a bus or taxi..just walk a few blocks and you get it!!!! you will find a nice lagoon,nice fishes, ducks, diferent green areas for sit and relax...

Hotel Enjoy Hotels Coquimbo

It is a good place. 48 Usd daily pass.Plus you have to add the massage or treatment you will like to take.Is a good choice, specially if you are staying in Hotel Enjoy because the spa is unlimited use. Can be a bit expensive if you are planning to take more than two massage or treatments , but if you compare to some other places like Dominican Republic the prices are almost the same.Is a very clean place, nice towel.showers,pool and hotbath tube.May be in Summer is a bit crowed specially both pools.But in some other time of the year is a good time to yourself.

La Herradura

This is a great beach to go with friends, couple or family. You can rest, swim, rent a kayak, etc, etc. It's a very long beach so walk along the beach and find the perfect spot to lay down your towel and sunshade. There are some pedlars and some little stores where you can buy sodas, ice creams and snacks. You can also can get a massage right there on the beach. Go there, you won't regret it!

La Recova Mercado

La Recova is probably one of the most famous places in La Serena. La Recova is a big market, where you can find all kind of local artesany, and tipical food products of the zone. This place have two colonial backyards on its inside, where you can find several kind of artesany, and on its second floor you will find amazing restaurants with tipical food, or their specials, sea food, both delicious and not so expensive.

Club De Campo Pan De Azucar

I think its a very beautiful place, you can play golf, make a picnic, they also have a room for events such as marriages, graduations, etc. The club is not so far from La Serena,if you have a car is like seven minutes from the downtown of the city, and like 4 minutes from the beach in Peñuelas. The golf court its huge, very well cared, with a really nice view of the mountains, you can feel the contac with the nature and the people who works there are very kind.

Fray Jorge National Park

Native chilean forest located in the north of the country over the risks near the sea. You can find flora and fauna from the south of Chile dues to a micro climate produced only in the area that reproduces the humidity and temperature of the south. This Chilean Park, declared by UNESCO as a World Reserve to Biosfera, has an extraordinary natural phenomena with flora and fauna from southern Chile. A native forest valdivian type, located in a desertic costal area over the risks in the north of Chile near Coquimbo. The existence of this forest depends on the condensation of a costal mist, called camanchaca that creates a micro climate, as the rain in the area doesn´t goes over 113 mm. in a year. Canelos, olivillos, tepas and a great variety of ferns grow up 1.250 km far from their normal habitat, in a 400 hectars ground. regarding fauna different birds, owls, foxes and small animals can be seen through a walking path along the forest.
