cabarete beach

Because of it's placement on the coast adjacent to El Choko National Park and the very scenic foothills of the coast Range, a unique set of conditions has created an amazing beach experience. The Trade winds just offshore would not come to the crescent shaped beach if the foothills were absent. Anabatic airflow which is caused by heated air rising from the foothills diverts the Trades in the early afternoon which results in a perfect side shore wind for Windsurfers and Kiters. There is also a fleet of Lasers available at the Bic Center for rent with instructors. Cabarete is a venue for the PKRA World Cup, Master of the Ocean, and various Laser Regattas. This World Class beach is available to all Visitors for free. One can pack a picnic lunch or choose from 25 different restaurants and bars to enjoy the view. For the less athletically inclined, a stroll along the shore break from town in either direction brings lots of opportunities to see whales, distant mountains and seascapes.

Amazing views for the volcanoes, close to Antigua Guatemala and one hour away from the pacific ocean where you can go fishing and surfing. The hotel and the restaurant are good, a little more expensive than Antigua's small hotels.

Llanos de Cortes Waterfalls

This is the best break you can have on your way to/from Liberia area, Llanos de Cortes is a non touristy side of the county, still very nature surroundings and a quiet place. Located only 30 minutes away from Liberia with a 5 minutes detour of the Pan hwy. An oasis on the middle of the dry forest with an evergreen scenario. Been not a private property you just need to give a contribution for the local school instead of a fee or admission, this contribution with cover the guard than take care of your vehicle while you enjoy this nature wonder.

The beach of Poneloya is excellent places for sun and beach activities. The little town is located less than 25 kilometers from León (about 35 minutes in car). This town are characterized by a wide beach, great swimming possibilities, and a relaxed, tranquil atmosphere.
