6 Recommendations: 5 Favorable, 1 Critical
Very convinient good quality restaurant. Traditional Bulgarian cuisine, good athosphere. The service is at good level, the prices - normal for the service and for the food quality. There you will feel welcome and will get an excellent chance to get properly introduced to Bulgarian cuisine and traditions.

Pancharevo, Sofia
4 Recommendations: 4 Favorable,
Pancharevo is just 5 kilometers away from Sofia, located between two wonderful mountains is the Pancharevo lake. You can go there by car or with the public transport, the place is very popular especially during the summer heat when many people from Sofia go there to swim (in the swimming pool), to get some relax in the Spa center, to ride a water wheel around the lake or just to go for a walk in the mountain. There are also some small but very nice restaurants where you can try traditional meals.

It's a really picturesque Eastern Othodox church with beautiful frescoes. The church is nicely located just on the edge of the Vitosha mountain park within easy hiking distance of the Boyana falls.

Indian Restaurant Kohinoor
4 Recommendations: 4 Favorable,
This restourant is one place that you should visit. The prices are higher than the average but the food and atmosphere deserve every penny that I would spend there. You could visit the restourant web page (http://www.kohinoor.bg/en/index.html) where you can find more information about the restourant (even the menu).

Egur-Egur
3 Recommendations: 3 Favorable,
The restaurant Egur Egur I found very interesting the food style is Armenian and the restaurant is owned and run by a Bulgarian/Armenian jazz singer by the name of Hilda Kazasyan. The restaurant does wonderful flame grilled kebabs and spiced stews and a mouth watering selection for the vegetarian dishes with peppers, courgettes, and aubergines to name just a few and being Bulgaria it's all organic. When I was there I found the wine list was exceptional with not just Bulgarian wines like a lot of restaurants in downtown Sofia but they also had a good selection of International wines also. Hilda Kazasyan also has another Armenian restaurant at 10 Dobrudzha which I have not tried but if it's anything like Egur Egur then it can only be good.

Hadjidraganovite kashti
3 Recommendations: 3 Favorable,
This restaurant is in the old Bulgarian traditional style like Hadjidraganovite Izbi restaurant in Sofia. When you enter Hadjidraganovite kashti at 75 Kozlodui Str in downtown Sofia you will feel you are entering another time and place you will feel like you are in the beautiful houses built in Bansko, Koprivshtitza, Melnik or Jeravna. The warm atmosphere and good service in both these restaurants is very good and I can defiantly recommend the very good food and wines. The restaurant has it's own Hadji Dragan folk group with Bulgarian bagpipe, drum, kaval and accordion playing wonderful music while you enjoy your meal. Both these restaurants themed on Hadji Dragan are both well worth a visit and I recommend them.

Hilton Sofia
3 Recommendations: 3 Favorable,
As should be expected of the Hilton don't expect cheap eats. However, the Hilton offers an excellent buffet style breakfast and has the best fresh squeezed orange juice (year round) that can be found anywhere in Sofia and probably the whole region. During summer months they have tables outside with a great view of the Vitosha mountain range.

Chevermeto Restaurant
3 Recommendations: 3 Favorable,
This restaurant is located at no31 Cherni Vruh Chevermeto despite it's location in the basement of the greying hotel Hemus, an evening at the "Spit Roast Lamb" comes across as an entertaining journey into Bulgaria's rural past. Traditional textiles are draped across every table and folk groups perform nightly after 8pm which help add to the ambiance to this place. The sizeable menu includes just about everything in the Bulgarian culinary repertoire so you are really spoilt for choice, also the wine list is extensive with many well known good Bulgarian wines on offer. We think by our experience of this warm and cosy place that there is something for all tastes and pockets. Our service was good, food was at reasonable prices, we defiantly recommend a visit to Chevermeto.
