The Botanic Garden is there will make you learn about many different kind of plants and eco-systems. This one is called COROZO, it is a sort of palm tree found in the Amazon Forest, it has long and painful thorns, it is a way that the nature found to protect its precious fruits from predators. We have palm trees like COROZO as well, it is quite common in the forests of Rio. The nuts are very simular to our famous Guaraná Rafael Torres http://donrafaguestsinrio.blogspot.com

COPACABANA BEACH
6 Recommendations: 6 Favorable,
Locals call the beach as COPA, so it is better for you to get used to refer to Copacabana in a very private way...IT IS NOT COPACABANA, JUST SAY "COPA" The whole beach is divided in 4 parts: LEME - Because of a fort with the same name, in the right corner of the beach MERIDIEN - It is a huge hotel that changed name, now it is IBERO STAR and it is located on the Atlantica Avenue corner with a very important avenue which connects Copacabana to the Bay Area of the city in Botafogo. This avenue is called PRINCESA ISABEL. SIQUEIRA CAMPOS - Very busy street which concentrates the best part of the district for shopping (ATTENTION GIRLS!!!), it is also lcoated in the middle of the beach and very close to the famous COPACABANA PALACE. POSTO SEIS - Most exclusive part of Copacabana, here everything is more ellegant and calmer than the rest of Copacabana. Sometimes Copacabana is not only a simple neighborhood of Rio, sometimes Copacabana turns into a huge urban city..But at Posto Seis you still can live without hurry, you forget a little bit about stressing life and by the end of the afternoon you can have a nice coffe in a nice café at Copacabana Fortress, enjoying the view of the whole beach and also the rocks of Diabo beach abd Arpoador! For those who stays in Copa, it is always better to be located from the Copacabana palace to the end of the beach at POSTO SEIS.

Gavea Golf Club
4 Recommendations: 4 Favorable,
This Golf course is actually divided by an urban highway (linking the south zone to the further south zone). Ten putts on one side and eight on the other, connected by a wee tunnel, it was twice visited by Tiger Woods (don't know whether he ever won a tournament here).

AGUA DE COCO - COCONUT WATER ON THE BEACH
4 Recommendations: 4 Favorable,
Rio is very hot no matter what season we have. We walk alot, we drive very hard and face traffic jams all around, and when we do explore the city our body demands FUEL, and one of the best medicines are AGUA DE COCO. Coconut water, the americans says COCONUT WATER and the english says COCONUT MILK. I stay with the americans because what we have inside the coconut is WATER, and I tell you, it is a miracle for HANGOVERS! Rafael Torres Lopes http://donrafaguestsinrio.blogspot.com

Igreja da Penha
4 Recommendations: 4 Favorable,
Igreja Nossa Senhora da Penha, old pilgrimage centre in Rio, located in the suburbs of Rio, in a residencial neighborhood called Penha. People go there to accomplish their promisses and receive their graces. And it is very interesting to see the big catholic faith of this people. Many people climb up the 365 steps on their knees..Of course i did not do that!;) Rafael Torres http://donrafaguestsinrio.blogspot.com
