Byron Bay NSW
2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,
Byron is simply awesome! Once upon a time it was for those into alternative cultures and some of that vibe still clings to it, but really now there's something for everyone. But the awesome beaches and the surf never change! But these days you can go hang gliding or take a helicopter ride, sky dive or ocean dive, go whale watching or visit a national park. There's a restaurant to suit every taste and budget and accommodation as well. Plenty of markets around the area as well.

Queensland Art Gallery
2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,
The Queensland Art Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) are at Southbank in the Cultural complex along with the State Library and the Queensland Museum. The galleries are really worth a visit and often there are special touring exhibitions (which will cost an entry fee). GoMA (as it is commonly referred to) has a strong focus on modern and contemporary cultures with growing collections of contemporary Australian, Indigenous Australian, Asian, Pacific and international art. The complex is easy to reach by public transport, either train or bus. You can telephone them at +61 7 3840 7303 or find them online at http://qag.qld.gov.au/. A wonderfully relaxing place to spend an hour or two and there's a couple of cafes as well.

Cobb & Co Changing Station
2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,
Surat is a little town around 450 km west of Brisbane. A drive west through the beautiful Darling Downs will bring you there, or you can take a train to Yuleba and then Surat is about an hour's drive from there. A visit here is a visit to country Australia. Cobb & Co were the coach lines that served much of outback Australia and this old changing station has been turned into a museum which displays varying exhibitions depicting the lifestyles of yesteryear and the importance of Cobb & Co to Surat. The Cobb & Co Store Museum, the Balonne River Gallery, a fresh water aquarium, library and Surat visitor information centre are all together here in one complex. You might find you are the only ones here. You can find out more about Surat and its activities at http://www.about-australia.com/queensland/toowoomba-golden-west/destinations/surat/.

Bundaberg Rum Distillery
2 Recommendations: 2 Favorable,
I don't even like rum but I really enjoyed my visit to the Bundy Rum distillery, also known as the Bundaberg Rum Bondstore. Bundy Rum is popular in Australia and is sort of a Queensland institution, as is its mascot, the Bundy bear. SO if you're travelling up the Queensland coast a visit to Bundaberg would not be complete without a stop here, taking the one-hour distillery tour. See, smell and taste your way through the rum production process, then finish at the official “Bundy Bar” for complimentary tastings. Pick up some official Bundy Rum merchandise at the visitor centre, adjacent to the distillery, or wander through the museum sifting through old photographs, original bottle labels and historical records. Even if you’re not a lover of rum, the Bundy Bear will entertain you and the tour is interesting. And give the tastings a go - you might be surprised. Bundaberg Distilling Company, Whittred St, East Bundaberg. Phone +61 7 4131 2900 Distillery tours run on the hour, every hour from Mon-Fri 10am-3pm and weekends 10am-2pm. http://www.bundabergrum.com.au/gateway.htm
