Hello, I am wondering if you know if there is a way to go from Gabes port for a half day drive/tour around some of the famous sites nearby where the filming of star wars took place?

If you are visiting Tunisia primarily to see the Star Wars movie locations, Tozeur in South West Tunisia is a good starting point. After you've checked into a hotel that fits your budget, hire a 4X4 vehicle, since you're going to be covering a lot of rugged terrain in the next few days. yes , sure , from gabes you need 2 hours to get there , i mean to tataouine and exactely KSAR HDADA ? BUT I THINK YOU NEED TO BE GUIDED if u want to do it in 1/2 day

welcome to Tunisia if you are in Gabes and u wanna go to see the sites of star war movie it takes you 2 or three ours (distination Matmata). but you need a guide and 4x4 car coz it's in sahara. have a nice sojourn.

I think that topic is so old, you didn't mention whan you'll come to check thoses sites
in fact,a trip to the south band of tunisia is primordial.
so u have the choice to get a reservation from a travel agency four a couth-trip on 4WD or you take the train(the train is the most exacactly mean time transporation) from tunis railway station.
two important sites :
GSAR HDADA
SELJA MOUNTAIN (if you remember the zig zag scene with the cyber airplane on movie;) ).

As already said, most interesting sites are near Ksar Haddada.

the star war's site is situated in TOZEUR , exactly in tamagza , you hire a local guide and you rent a 4WD ,
from gabes , it will take you about 2 hours .
