Hi Mark,
Thanks for your question:-)
Venice is an amazing city to visit with so many treasures to see but reasonably priced accommodations are hard to come by, even B&Bs are outrageously priced.
I usually suggest to stay in Mestre, which is only 15 minutes away by Taxi.
Here is the official Venice Website that provides useful information & Tourist Tips.

Hi Mark,

there are a lot of different of possibilities in Venice. What is a reasonable price for you? And what kind of accomodation are you looking for. Also notice that the prices in Venice depend on which period you choose to visit.

Have a nice day!

Hi Mark,

Yes, it's possible! Look for apart-hotels or pensioni, they have the cheapest rates. I stayed at Ca' Venier, in San Marco's district, it was very good and in a great location. Good luck!

Hi Mark, there are several hidden away B & B, usually around Euro 80 per night double room. Staying in Venice is much nicer than Mestre . There are one or two hostels too.
Have a look at www.altramontodorato.it -

Simply to answer, very hard. You can theoretically get BandB's or 1 or 2 star hotels for app. 30-40 Euro per person per night, but the quality is usually below any acceptable level. Normally the prices of 3 star hotels are 100 Euro per night per person and more.
