Well it's really hot and humid (humidity reaching 80% sometimes) with great chance of showers (we are about to enter the rainy season). The food is diverse, of course you have your international fast-food restaurants scattered all ove the city but traditional food is found as easy as well. Be careful with street vendors because hygene is not a priority for them (shaved ice or sometimes ice cream carts). Traditional and El Salvador's most well-known dish are "pupusas" (corn tortillas filled with cheese, pork and beans) are served with tomato sauce and "curtido" (mostly cabbage with other vegetables and vinegar). Be careful with "curtido" because all the ingredients are raw so parasites are quite common so I suggest having anti-parasite medicines with you (you can buy them in all durg stores) Food is fairly cheap and tasty... Hope I've helped you!

hi! regarding your question: El Salvador has a warm temperature of 30 to 22 Âş C, depending on which area of my country visited. The gastronomy of the country is fairly broad-based maize and beans as main dishes: the pupusas. Antem thousand of apologies if this text is badly drafted and introduced as a translator in order to resolve your concerns. I hope soon and enjoy the magic and warmth of people.

Hey I just got back from Canada, and lived there for 18 years. There´s nothing like getting sunshine everyday!! Depends on the month that you{re coming. You might still get some rain but usually the sun comes up everyday and if you are looking for a mountain getaway there{s also mountains with cool weather.
Let me know if you´re looking for a place to stay I got a couple empty rooms in my house.

Weather is a kind of hot, We're located in a Tropical Zone so it makes our land a very hot place, ideal for wearing loose and comfortable clothes, drinking and eating well. About food, it depends on your likes, if you want to taste a local food, you may get Pupusas, they're a cheap dish. Also you may get some other local dishes such as Pastelitos de carne, Yuca frita and so others. Depending where you choose to eat, you may spend, I mioght recommend you to go to Los Planes de Renderos, it's about 15 min or less by car, overthere you'll be able to find a lot of places where to eat.
I hope this info is useful, and HAVE FUN!

WE HAVE REACH ABOUT 34Âş C. but its a perfect weather to a visit our world famous seashore or camping or backpacking in a mountain. Our gastronomy, a i mean our food is quite unique, as some other have said it's base on Corn and beans, but you can find from exotic animal meals to a classic Bigmac, it's up to WHERE you travel and with WHO. Congratulations on an excellent travel choice! We have been spending 1/2 half of each year in El Salvador for many years and have seen the excellent variety of available cuisine grow and grow. Most of the US fast food is available as is European continental. Be careful with street food as cleanliness is not usually a priority but do not miss our justly famous "Pupusas". Stay with the cheese and bean varieties although pork is available. Stay away from the cabbage curtido that is served with them for safety reasons, though.
We escape from the heat in the "States" during these months because the average temp is 76 degrees. And even though this is the rainy season, it usually rains in the evening and for only a few hours. The rain will not intrude in your plans. My email address is Feldmancp@yahoo.com. Feel free to get in touch when you arrive. We would love to help with any questions and if free, even show you around. We have "Stateside visitors visiting all the time and love showing the beauty of this country.
Have a great trip!

Well, the weather in my country generally is hot (25 - 30 degrees). If you like the beach, the sun rise mixing the waves and the hot is terrific, because you feel the real tropical weather. Remember the humidity porcentage is high (70 - 80 % relativity humidity) add the temperature hot, you gonna sweat a lot, i recommend you loose cloth.
i hope this advices help you, when you arrive here to country.

Summer in USA is Rainy Season or 'Winter' here in El Salvador. Usually rains late afternoon or more often at night..showers to heavy downpours for 30 minutes or less at a time.
The Myth: "El Salvador is the most dangerous country for travelers in
Central America...."
The Reality: NOT SO, even in the congested capital city of San
Salvador are many small and affordable Guest Houses, Bed & Breakfast
and small Hotels catering to budget travelers on pleasant tree lined
streets, in fact, next to San JosĂŠ in Costa Rica, San Salvador, El
Salvador turns out to be the safest and most pleasant capital city to
base in, in all of Central America, the Beaches of La Libertad are a
45 minute drive or less and Suchitoto is about an hour. Slightly more
time on public transportation. The entire country can be seen in a few
days, no 'all day' bus rides or drives, where you arrive exhausted.
People are friendly here in El Salvador, willing to help out travelers
in a pinch.
'Traveling to Central America made easy'!
I, a long term El Salvador resident, am suprised myself, despite the
ongoing 'bad press' and 'bad rep' of El Salvador, how many travelers
are now making El Salvador their first or second Central American
destination. Few go away dissapointed.
Of course there exist serious security issues in many parts of Latin
America so be aware, especially when traveling alone, and use common
sense.
The more Spanish you know, the easier traveling around gets, so if planning an extended stay there are dozens of fine and affordable Spanish Language schools, many offering home stay with locals as well as volunteer opportunties. As well El Salvador boasts several excellent Spanish Schools and many volunteer opportunties, low or no cost.
The writer is a long term resident of both El Salvador & Guatemala, presently volunteering with a pilot project in rural cultural & ecotourism, in Cinquera, where the pristine Rain Forest and historical Civil War monuments with trails, uniformed native guides, a majestic waterfall enroute, as well as 150 varieties of plants and animals in the protected area, the village has been reconstructed, destroyed in the massacre of 1981 during the conflict, Hostal for overnight guests and camping for those with vehicle and gear. No crime nor petty theft.
For more information on Central American vacation, on or off the beaten path, simply message me personally and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Saludos, Tropicalguide.

All that my fellow salvadorians says is right but we need to be more specific, about the temperature ranges from 25 to 35 degreescelcius in San Salvador and sorrounding areas, if you travel to San Miguel and the eastern region of El Salvador you can expect a warmer climate temperature can reach 50 celcius, high humidity makes sticky, as any hot climate you must keep yourself well hydrated, never trust the runnig water your organism may not be fit to drink it as all the local are, even the bottled water cannot meet the FDA standars, I always advise to drink evian if you have any concern about the local brands you can find evian in any supermarket, even here is considered expensive by the locals is not really so.
And about the food pupusas are always the fist thing to eat but will be better you taste them first without "curtido" that is some type of sauerkraut but it contains home made pineapple vinegar that has a heavy load of bacteria mostly Shigella Sonnei, and it is a cultural issue that some people use his bare hand to take it from the big glass jars that contains it in the tables of the "pupuserias" as we call the specialized restaurants in pupusas there are more food served in the pupuserias, I will recomend the little chain of pupuserias called "Tipicos Margoth" there are some around San Salvador if you go there and at sight don´t want pupusas you can eat other types of local food as "panes con pavo" (turkey sandwiches made in a traditional way) and by the way there is a cleaner place to eat. Many people can recomend to eat fried fish in the beach but be aware of the hygiene issues there, some food in the beach is served raw as "coctel de conchas" (clam cocktail) and other shell fish. but ther is always the option of eating in well know places that keep cleanner facilities safer for the foreings ask around you can have advise of where to eat in any town, in El Salvador people is very polite and willing to help but if you have any safety concern always ask to elder ones is safer and knows best, some towns have information offices in the police stations here is a specialized tourism police they drive white and orange patrols mostly SUV's they are a very good help even to find where to eat.
