You may want to pick your Pulau Tioman holiday package here (http://www.discoverymice.com/greatholidayescapes/berjayaair_tioman.htm). Don't remember anything nice to eat in Pulau Tioman.

to be more specific, the island can be devided in to 4 parts;
1. u can stop @ Mukut Village, which lay in south part where u can enjoy the scenic and refreshing Asah Waterfall. there are affordable chalets and the food are cheap but good.
2. U can stop @ Tekek Village in west part of the Island. Here, u can do snorkeling @ the Marine Park & Rengis Island. U can also shop 4 souvineers here. if u wanna go for comfort, u can stay @ Berjaya Tioman Resort but it's also easy to find small chalets facing the sea. From this village, u can jungle track across the island to Juara Village, a small fisherman's village in the east.
3. Salang Island @ the northern part is a heaven for scuba & snorkeling. The beach is sandy and beautiful.
These are the places u should do when u go to Tioman Island. If u asking 'bout the food, anywhere within the island are good and cheap. Enjoy!!

I agree with Helmy. Tekek Village is centrally located on the western shore of Tioman, right after Paya Village or before Air Batang Village if you are coming from Mersing jetty. Getting here is relatively easy because the village is located on the main route of the passenger boats that ply across the island ie: Mersing - Genting - Paya - Tekek - Air Batang - Salang.
The village jetty is also supposedly served daily by three scheduled ferries from Tanjung Gemok jetty in Kuala Rompin, Pahang; but I found only one boat was scheduled to depart from Tanjung Gemok at 1230 hrs on a quiet weekday in April.
The airport at Tekek Village is served by Berjaya Air which has one daily flight departing from Subang Airport (SZB).

The sea there is very clear. Try cycling around...more fun to do that.

I think it depends on what you're used to. If you're a regular at Redang or Sipadan, then Tioman might not leave an ever-lasting impression perse. But as far as meat-and-potatoes scuba diving, snorkeling and all-around beach-fun, Tioman is top notch. Not to mention the fact that Tioman (as well as the other Seri Buat Archipelago islands) are all quite accessible from Singapore and KL.
Not sure what you find "not that pleasant" about the trip there. It's a 1 hour trip in an aircon ferry with seats for every pax. And more often than not it's a smooth ride. Perhaps your trip was choppy? Or perhaps you went on a bumboat? I'd love to hear your experience.
Cheers.
