No - it is very difficult (almost impossible) to travel directly between islands in Croatia.

Hi
Thanks for your response.
We are coming in the last 2 weeks of July so I think based on the answers I have received that we will stay in the Dalmatia region - we don't want to do too much travelling around and I don't really want to pay a lot to get to there, it was just somewhere I thought would be nice to go to if I could.
Laura.

It is impossible without going on the mainland, unfortunately...
You can take a ferry to Rijeka from Hvar (line Dubrovnik - Rijeka) but it will take you forever. I recommend ferry or fast line to Split and then bus to Rijeka. From Rijeka you have either buses or fast boat lines to Mali Losinj.

I will double check, but unfortunatly you might bi right. I would rent the car or motorcycle to move faster, but it's still long way to Mali Losinj. There are lots of private boats that travel along the coast, maybe one could pick you up and drop you on Mali Losinj. You could also check in Hvar becasue they have day boat trips to other islands.

there's no faster way.. hvar-split with katamaran takes about an hour with lines every day, further split to zadar takes about 3 hours with bus also every day, but taking ferry zadar-mali losinj takes about 8 hours only on mondays and fridays in 9:00 AM, so count on it.. you can even go with bus from split to rijeka, will took you 8 hours, every day, and then with katamaran in 2:30 PM every day, it takes about 3 hours.. have a nice trip..

You know they said: if you are ready to pay enough than everything is possible. So the only way to do it fast and good is by renting a boat from Hvar to Mali Losinj. This is probably quite expensive but it is the price of fast travelling between the islands...

Usually it takes really long, especially between islands as they are not so good connected. Through the summer, lines are a bit better. if you can specify when exactly are you coming, maybe we can see an easier and faster way.

Faster than bus and train is rent-a-car , but it's more expencive . Some cruisers go directly from island to island , but they are expencive too . Hydrogliser goes from Zadar to Italy but I don't know does it stop at some islands .

Hi!
I will try to answer to your guestion. I have some informations that might help you. I have red that there is a plane from Split to Mali LoĊĦinj, that means that you will anyway have to go to at least Split. It is hard to get wright information on the phone, so I would suggest you to go personaly there after you get to Split. It is in KaĊĦtela, about twenty to thirty minutes from Split.Have a nice trip!

Hi! That really is pretty complicated, and it does depend in which time of the year are you coming. Combination you have written is pretty much the best you can get. Connection between the islands in Croatia is a big problem, but after all, we have 1000 islands with the few hundreds people on them. The trip is worth going.

I'm afraid that is the only way. It's the safest way. Instead of bus, you can rent a car, but the bus station is near the ferry and the lines are acclimatised, so it wont be much of a problem. if you have time, visit Split and Zadar, one more beautiful than other and enjoy your travel because it can be quite amazing

You can also go with boat directly from Stari Grad (Hvar) to Rijeka ( its take also time about 14 hours) and from Rijeka you have more possibility: bus, catamaran, private transfer.
More info about boat you can find on http://www.jadrolinija.hr/default.aspx?dpid=1631

Hi,

as far as I remember, during the summer months there is a fast boat that takes around 3 hours to get from Zadar to Mali Losinj. I think that's the line Zadar-Pula and stops at Mali Losinj. Hope this help!

Best regards!

Hi,

Ways from Hvar to Mali LoĊĦinj:

Fastest: rent a plane
Fast: rent a yacht
Moderate: rent a sailboat
Slow: take a ferry from Hvar to Zadar, then second ferry/boat to Mali LoĊĦinj
Slower: take boat to Split, bus to Zadar, boat to Mali LoĊĦinj
Slowest: swim

:-)
