Marrakech is in North Africa. It is possible to stay and eat cheaply in Marrakech although you might prefer to pay a little more for better accommodation. The Euro exchanges at roughly 10 Moroccan Dirhams. For affordable travel in Morocco you can make use of the local buses or taxis. Moroccans are friendly and helpful and a lot of them can speak Spanish which you might find useful. Enjoy your stay in this magic country!!

Hi,
Thanks for your questions,
the best it's to start your trip from Marrakech to Mhamid and from there you can be in the sahara desert for 2 weeks.
after ther experience you visit the Tafroute and you can go dawon to Laayon and Dakhala, try if you have time to visit the north of Mauritania country.

All the best for you.

Personnally I would suggest to go to Essaouira, spend some days there (there are a lot of guests home that proposes a very affordable nightfare) and enjoy the city of Mogador with their extraordinary beaches, then leave to Agadir for 2 or 3 days and discover its countryside (Tiznit, Inezegane, and eventually Taroudant if you can afford it), then drive to Ksar Massa for some rest to enjoy the splendid panorama (www.ksarmassa.com).
Otherwise you can experience from Marrakech the desert cruise going to Ouarzazate, then driving in the desert to Merzouga, passing by Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou

I'd better advice you to travel to Morocco for a month as it is full of touristic cities that you may visit.

That is a good beginning to come first to Marrakesh which is known as "a red city" and you will eventually enjoy it. If you want to live in a particular city for a month, you'd better stay in Marrakesh. In order for you to pay and buy very cheap things in Marrakesh, why don't you take a hotel of 3 stars from 35 euros to 50 euros per night and go to cheap snacks and restaurants. This is how you will be able to manage your budget!

As you want to visit the whole Morocco, I advice you to go to essoaurira, which is 200 km away from Marrakesh. Essoarira is a very beautiful country and has got the most beautiful beaches of Morocco. And of course it's full of tourists there.

After moving from that city, you'd better explore the sahara desert for the first time of your life which is known as 'Merzouga' at the eastern Morocco. Merzouha has got some hot and awesome dunes(the sand) which are incredible to see. However, be careful with the hot weather which may be from 38 to 49 celcius degress at the daylight during the summer and at night the temperature may decrease to about 20 celcius degrees, so yeah it's very cold every night and very hot every day. To inform you more about Merzouga, actually they are orgazing the biggest festival ever called "Transahara", it's the touristic trance and techno festival event which is animated once every year starting from 10th april to 14th april 2009.

After exploring Merzouga, you go back to Marrakesh and take the road to agadir which is 400km away. It's located at the further southern of Morocco. Agadir is the most touristic city which has got beautiful hotels, buildings and beaches. Its weather is stable and hot the whole year. It's of course very huge and there are so many things to do such as clubbing, surfing and so on.

Once you are done with Agadir, you go back to Marrakesh and rest for some days there and then you travel to casablanca, the capital city of economy. It's huge and good for business.

Then, you go to Rabat, the capital kingdom city of Administration. It's nice and good but nothing really much to do. It's kind of boring if you stay longer there.

If you want to explore the northern mediteranean cities, I advice you to travel to the most beautiful cities of Morocco which really look like Greece or Turkey including Assilah, chaoun, Tetuan, Marina smir and Cabo negro. Otherwise, near Assilah, you will love Tanger, the ex international country of the world but now part of Morocco. It's full of spanish citizens there as It had been colonized by Spanish people and visit especially the coast which looks like Marbella.

Finally, if you are about to explore the New Spain, you travel to Ceuta, Mellila and Canary islands which are near the western sahara.

Have a nice flight!

Marrakech is an awesome place to visit. But to get the best cultural experience, stay in a riad (Moroccan bed and breakfast) instead of a hotel. Once you stay in a riad, the local staff will help you make all of sight seeing arrangements. Go to this site to get great info on riads in Marrakech www.riadreviews.com

Hi, Marrakech is more expensive than any other city in Moroco. Because it's much more touristique than others cities, the prices are higher. And other thing...Marrakech it's not really the "true" Morocco. Many foreigners (some people who own "Riads" (the nice stilysh ancien houses) are installed there so the city it's very international. The city has changed a lot since last 5 years. The rest of morocco it's not soo much cosmopolita!!! ...it's still a country based on rural economy. Please think about it.
Try to choose a location more rural. The real morocoon live is there. I suggest you always the south, people are more charming and "cool". In the north you would be always the "foreigner" (even in the south!).

Moroccan are really nice people but you need always to respect them. (please dress correctly, respect prayer times, etccc)...and encourage them. They need it!. Enjoy it!

Good luck and good trip.
