Dear Vicky
The best place to see in Croatia are without a doubt: the beautifuly citty of Dubrovnik (especialy it's centre), Split with it's Deocletian Palace (eventought only some ruins are left over the years), then the Plitvica lake (National Park), the islands of Korčula, Hvar and the island of Kornat (Kornati National Park, Dalmatia).
No matter where you go in Croatia you'll enjoy because most of the people speak at lest english and they are very friendly.
If you decide to visit Dubrovnik send me a messagge and if I'm home I can show you the citty and all you need to see in Dubrovnik, I'm not sure if I'm going to be in Dubrovnik because soon I'm going on a little trip to see some relatives of mine in Italy.
Besto of luck and enjoy Croatia

I would strongly disagree that only a few ruins are left of Dicletians pallace in Split. Palace evolved over years into a city, therefore most of original buildings were destroyed over time and replaced by new ones to accomodate inhabitants but the walls are still there, Vestibul (observatory), Peristil-the central square with genuine sphinx and much more worth seeing. Come and see for yourself!
No offence ment to Sandra :-)

ZAGREB
CAVTAT
A town founded in the Roman times. It is worth visiting two Patrician palaces, St Vlah monastery and St Nicholas Church with it valuable collection of paintings. DUBROVNIK
A city named “the Pearl of Croatia” by many.
BASKA VODA
The history of this village dates back to the ancient times.
TROGIR
It is a city located in the centre of the Dalmatian county. ZADAR

A city and port in central Dalmatia.
VODICE
Vodice is one of biggest tourist centers on Middle Adriatic with realization over 50 000 tourist accomodations in Hotels and in private accomodations family pensions, apartments and rooms). TROGIR

A town and harbour on the coastal strip of the Kastela Gulf, 27 km west of Split. The old core is situated on a small island between the island of Ciovo and the mainland; connected with the mainland by a small stone bridge, and with the island of Ciovo by a drawbridge. The town spreads to the northern coast of Ciovo, opposite the small island. Chief occupations include shipbuilding, tobacco, pharmaceuticals and tourist trade. Trogir lies on the main road (M2, E65). BOL
Show all beauties of Bol, knowing the fact that we will never entirely succeed, because you can truly discover Bol only by visit.

HVAR
Located in the center of the Mediterranean, off of its northern more indented and more densely populated coast, the island of Hvar is also situated in the center of practically all of the routes that cross the eastern Adriatic. An outstanding geographical point of central Dalmatia, on the route from Zadar and Sibenik to Korcula and Dubrovnik, Hvar is located in the vicinity of, and within the region gravitating towards, the city of Split. However, Hvar is separated from the Split Channel by the island of Brac.

KORCULA
Come to know Korčula - the historical and tourist centre of the island of the same name in the South Dalmatian Archipelago. Known as the birth-place of Marko Polo, this town has been justly called "a little Dubrovnik" due to its picturesque squares and medieval atmosphere. While the works of skilful Korčula stone-masons cause wonder by its perseverance, Moreška brings liveliness to the streets of Korčula, as one of the three chivalrous dances you can see only on this exceedingly beautiful island!

KRADIN – KRKA NATIONAL PARK
Skradin, a small town in the hinterland of Dalmatia, 16 km away from Šibenik. This town with rich historical heritage, mentioned in the 6th century already, was the main town of the Illyrian tribe Liburni. It has received a special present by nature - to be near the Krka National Park, and to be one of its parts. If you chose it for the place of your holidays, you will enjoy its interesting and beautiful facilities!

One of the most beautiful and interesting towns in Croatia is my hometown Dubrovnik. It has city walls almost 2 km long with amazing forts and bastions. It also has numerous museums and churches with amazing pieces of art that you can visit.
Another place that you can visit if you like nature is the island of Mljet. A part of the island is a national park with two beautiful lakes and dense forest. In the middle of the second lake is little island with the monastery and church from 12th century.
Another place of great importance is the old town of Split. The nucleus of the town used to be a palace of roman emperor Diocletian. It's cathedral is beautiful and ofcourse famous promenade by the sea.
Well this would be most important, if you have any further questions i'll be happy to answer.

Croatia is definitely a place to visit during the spring and summer seasons (april-october). The majority of tourists undoubtedly head for the islands and coast line because they really are the jewels of Croatia. If this is what you are looking for, I would recommend the following places:
Islands: HVAR, BRAC, KORCULA.
Inland: MAKARSKA, VODICE, BASKA VODA, MURTER, DUBROVNIK

If you are looking for a real party scene and lots of young people, I would recommend Vodice, Makarska, Island Pag, Porec

Dear Vickey,
ofcourse, all Croatia is worth to see. Some says that Croatia is God's Garden. It is realy truth.
Like other said you should to see old town Dubrovnik on south of Adriatic Coast. (Research on internet.). Split with old Diocletian palace. And between this towns there is a lot of beautifull little towns to see, like Makarska with cristal clean beaches and beautifull mountain Biokovo behind.
If you go in Split, this is great point to go on islands, what I recomend to you. You can travel with old woodden boat and see all beautifull islands like Brač, Hvar (island with a lot of fun),Korčula,... enjoy in cristal clean sea and see a lot in 7 days from Split to Dubrovnik.
Ofcourse, there is more,
If you go on north of Split you should see Šibenik, Zadar , a National parks like Islands Kornati, N.P. Krka and N.P. Plitvička jezera. All that you can see in few days.
Or Pag ( near to Zadar), island with a lot of fun.
Istria is story for itself. This is north and also beautifull part of Adriatic coast. There is PUla with old Arena, nice town Opatija, Poreč, Rovinj and more.
Option is sailling with skipper( I can organise that for you). This is the way to see lot of this beautifull islands and towns, to discower beautifull clean wild beaches.
Depend what you want, and what kind of holidays you want there is a lot opportunities.
If you have more question, some specific, just ask.

I can notice from above that you really can make an extraordinary schedule from the lists above for your next Croatian holiday:)
Almost all cites and national parks are mentioned. And we are very proud on our coast and beautiful Adriatic sea. But if you would like to get to know Croatia from different angle why not to go to the mountains (Dinara, Velebit) with one of our skillful mountain guide and experience wildness of the area, or even better to go and visit continent, for example Hrvatsko zagorje - Croatian Provence and baroque town of Varaždin...or to go even further on the east to visit natural park Kopački Rit and village Čigoč - famous village of white storks...They still nest on the top of roofs...
Here is so much to experience, you are welcome for any further question! Enjoy!

Well. places worth seeing in Croatia are there more than one... depends also on what you consider interesting...
The whole coastline of Croatia is worthy to see like towns of Preč, Pula, Opatija, Crikvenica, Zadar, Vodice, Šibenik, Trogir, Split, Makarska, Dubrovnik... but there are more places like on some of our almost 1200 islands... Hvar, Brač, Mljet, Korčula, Pag... etc...
Anyway interesting in the sense of culture and history would be on the first place Dubrovnik, then Split and then the others...
In the sense of nature you could also consider a visit to the national park of Plitvice Lakes...
Just to mention that in this small country there are 8 national parks and 19 parks of nature... we have about 7000 km of coastline and an archipelag of around 1200 islands accompanied by a mild weather, good sun and clear sea among the 10 cleanest seas of the world.
Of course there is as well developed nightlife in any locality along the seaside and of course in the capital Zagreb...
As to resume i would reccomend to put a clearer question like what you would like to do or what are you intersted in to do in Croatia... from adventure vacation, shopping vacation, sightseeing, historic places visits, or just summer relaxing... everything is to be found in Croatia... come and enjoy it...

Depending on how long your stay would be, you can see few places. In southern Croatia I would recommend Split, Trogir, Hvar, Korčula and Dubrovnik.
If you decide to do central Dalmatian coast-Šibenik, Zadar, Kornati, Plitvice lakes( national park)...
The nothern coastline has some beautiful places too-penninsula of Istria with its cities and villages and nearby islands.
It all depends which part of Croatia will you choose to come, because you can not do all in a week stay-it takes much longer!

You didn't even mention the time you plan on coming here, but the best time is during summer, if you're looking for fun you should visit Novalja on the island of Pag, Makarska and Istria. If you would like to see some culture, go to Dubrovnik, Korcula, Zadar, Split, Istria, Zagreb and Zagorje which has very beautiful castles to see, Trakoscan is a must see even if you're just traveling through Zagreb. If you like adventure you can go to Istria, Velebit or some islands like Vis or Mljet. The best way to see the coast is by boat, you can rent it in Split or Zadar, which have airports, with a skipper and he should be able to take you to most interesting islands and places on coast. Croatia really has many things to offer, but you need to be specific on what you're looking for because it's very different if you're coming here during summer and any other time of the year

Travelers history of Split Croatia
Split is the economic and administrative center of Central Dalmatia, and a large tourist area. The history of Split is fascinating. Split was first settled at the end of the third century AD, when the Roman Emperor Diocletian built his retirement palace here. He is actually the person who invented retirement.
Trogir, Croatia
rogir Croatia has a rich history of art, commerce, and occupation. Originally a Roman municipality Trogir was conveniently close to Salona, the center of Roman rule in Dalmatia. In the 6th Century, the Croats settled there and brought the arts. The Venetians raided Trogir in the 12th Century during the Venetian war with Hungary for the stunning and useful Dalmatian coastline. The Venetians did not get Trogir then, but they did claim it in 1420.Now it exists reflecting the art and history of its past. Tourism is again booming and the town seems to be doing quite well.

Hello there,

Almost every corner in Croatia is worth while seeing. I recommend to get accommodation in Split and from there you can make daily excursions to National parks (all in 1-2 hours of driving distance), beautiful history cities, ethno-villages with amazing local foods and of course night life in popular local clubs to spice up the evening part of the visit. Check www.maddox.hr -travel section for more information.
