Sutjeska National Park
Web
Hello everyone, I am considering travelling to Sarajevo for a long weekend (maybe September), and I saw that Sutjeska National Park seems to be rather close. My research on this place was not too successful yet (except for some stunning photos), but can anyone tell what hiking routes (up to 7-8 hours return trip) are the most worthwhile and beautiful there? I am an experienced hiker and in good shape, I usually do hikes between 5-8 hours of medium difficulty. Final question (might sound dumb, but anyway): Do I have to worry about landmines, or is this places regarded as safe for hiking ? Best regards Michael

Hello Michael, Sutjeska National Park is safe, you do not have to worry about landmines. French tourist was in Perucica ( that is the deepest primal forest in Europe ) and people from the hotel ˝Mladost˝ ( main hotel in National Park Sutjeska ) receive the letter from French Government and they say that he do that before, he is not lost, he do TV shows about wild forests. Sutjeska is nearby city of Foča, Foča is 72km far from Sarajevo and hotel Mladost is 25km from Foča. Maglić ( the highest top in Bosnia ) is also on the teritory of Foča and it is also in National Park. River Tara ( the best river for rafting in Europe in this time of year ) is also nearby Foča ( 30km ). Do not hesitate to contact me for any further question ( about guides or guy who know english language ), my email is nemanja.milanovic@hotmail.com , my mobile phone is 0038765848539.
