Flyfishing in Glavaticevo (Neretva river). We are four flyfishermen living in France.

Could you tell me if the number and the size of trouts and graylings in this area could be very attractive for flyfishmen. We have a good experience last year from Una and Ribnick rivers. Thanks a lot

The Neretva trout (Salmons obtusirostris) is a species of fish, first described by Johann Jakob Heckel in 1851. Other common names are softmouth trout and soft muzzled trout.
On the river Neretva near village Glavaticevo softmouth trout (Salmothymus obtusirostris oxyrhynchus) is in any case unique fish species. With Head (Salmo marmoratus Cuvier) represents endemic upper and middle of the river Neretva. Her diet, appearance and behavior makes it quite different from other types of Salmothymus in the region. Inhabits mainly peaceful and deeper parts of river Neretva and live in flocks. Food organisms are bottom: larva aquatic insects, Oligochaeta (worms), crayfish and etc. The largest examples reach a length of 60 cm and a weight of 3 kilograms. Its striking characteristics are big soft mouth with very small teeth, and from there and her name. Resides in cold water with lots of oxygen and is therefore not in the smaller tributaries of Neretva

The river Neretva trout Head (Salmon marmoratus Cuvier) is the most popular fish species in the basin of the Neretva river. Characterized by an elongated body, large mouth and head, without the characteristic bright spot for trout kind, but her body is spotty with dark stripes, which gives it a marble look of what is given Latin name. There is a pronounced prey and one of biggest trout fish in general, and can grow to 150 cm and achieve mass of 35 kg. He lives in the deeper and slides as well as other trout species inhabits clear waters rich oxygen. Inhabits a relatively narrow area of the Balkans, the Adriatic side of the river basin and in other parts of the world scientific are not described. Unfortunately, because of its attractiveness is often a target of illegal fishing (Poaching) as much a threat to its already small population in the river Neretva. Before the construction of dams on the middle course of the Neretva, this fish species has migrated upstream to spawn up to village Glavaticevo in the upper course of the river, so it's a place and got its name. Today, this fish species held in the upper course of the Neretva River and is considered to be most vulnerable fish the river Neretva.

At the following link you will see few photos of trouts caught in Glavaticevo revir:

http://www.bistrobih.ba/?action=fullnews&showcomments=1&id=874

I hope this was helpfull.

I live in Konjic, town near Glavaticevo so should you decide to visit Glavaticevo feel free to contact me once you arrive in Konjic. I can help you about fishing permits which is issued here. Jablanica lake is a place you should definetly visit. My father is a passionate fisherman and he told me that Glavaticevo is famous for flyfishing and that is worth of trying. My family owns a camp in Ostrozac so here you can accommodate if you want to. The camp lies by the lake and has it's own kitchen and everything else
