I'm asking about scuba diving NOT surf!

I visited the website you suggested and only found information about SURF.

I have no personally gone SCUBA diving here, but this site looks pretty good and I think I have seen the shop as well. http://www.bahiascuba.com.br/

According to their site they offer a number of professional services as well as equipment rental. This is their map of dive sites. http://www.bahiascuba.com.br/mergulhos.asp There is nothing on their weekly agenda, but it does say that you can get a 10 percent discount if you confirm your presence on a dive and pay for it early. "GANHE 10% DE DESCONTO efetuando depósito antecipado até as 17h da sexta-feira e confirmando sua reserva pelo 3322-0044."

E-mail: bahiascuba@bahiascuba.com.br

Sorry I cannot be of more help. I hope you will let us all know how it works out.

Hello,

I'm a diver and live in Salvador but sadly haven't yet had the chance to do any diving here. There are a number of dive shops around town though and the bay is famous for wreck dives. Here's one site that I found quickly that describes some of the dive locations (but it is only in Portuguese): http://www.divebahia.com.br/pontos.php If you are coming through Salvador, the best would be to visit a couple of the dive shops and see what they offer. There is one in the Porto da Barra and a few in the Bahia Marina in the Cidade Baixa - both in easy access locations to travelers. Best of luck!

Hi, you have been given some informations but I just wanted to add that I would advise visiting Praia do Forte , 50 chilometers north of Salvador , nice place to stay , many pousadas , etc...but more specifically you can go fishing every day by taking a boat that will tke you to the right places, it is mixt coral , rock and sand bottom to the sea so many fish , I have often seen people just walk off from the beach with flippers , snorkel aand a fishing harpoon , and often seen them come back with decent size fish of over a chilo or two

I think you can find great informtion at the dive shops around town, like the one at the Marina in the Cidade Baixa. But a great place to visit would be Morro de Sao Paolo, it's an island 2 hours off of Salvador by boat. It's a $US50 boat ride. For snorkling its fantastic, all you need really is some bread and the fish come right up to the surface in the crystal clear shallow early morning water on the 4th beach. That's all I've done out there, but I would imagine that if you were to snorkel out or dive near the area you would encounter alot of sea life and beautiful coral. There are also dive locations on the island that can better inform you. Definitely a place you must see if coming to Salvador. Hope this has helped. Let me know how it goes.

Hello! You received already some answers to yr question. I ould recommend you three location for scuba diving: the 1.island of Fernando de Noronha, about 250 miles off the coast, starting from Recife; the Abrolhos atoll, in the south of Bahia (50 miles off coast), boats starting from Caravelas (Abrolhos Embarcações, fone: +55 73 32971172, 3. the south of the Boipeba island, arriving via Morro de São Paulo,( 2 hours by boat south of Salvador) and then with the next lift to Velha Boipeba. Its a likely underdeveloped region, yet primordial but very charming. For snorkeling there are good options in the south of Salvador, Morro de São Paulo, Itacaré beaches, Taipus de Fora. I hope you'll enjoy your journey. Boa viagem

deffinitly ABROLHOS. Its a place of "wild-life preservation" so they have a few rules that you must know before going there. Also, it's worth it to visit PRAIA DP FORTE,where they keep a project to save the sea turtles called PROJETO TAMAR.As they said on the top, also MORRO DE SAO PAULO might be a nice destination!
