Who can organize cost effective safari tours in Kenya other than the safari companies?

avatar

Our budget is less than USD 150 per person. We need a reliable person to organize our accommodation in a decent place, good food, safari with an english speaking guide within this budget. We want to have a good time in Kenya. Whom should we consult?

Honestly, using a tour company is the best way because u get to be arranged for transportation, accomodation at a cheaper rate and one does not have to worry about taking care of that by himself. There are places u can go with that budget depending how many people you are. What is your citizenship? are u kenyan? where would u like to go? for how many days? its cheaper in a group. You can send me an email at info@eaglesroostke.com. with all that information and work something for you.

First of all a tour company is the best option for you, because you will have someone to fall back on.US$ 150 is ok.It will depend on what you want to do while you are around, the season that you will be here, the days that you will spend, also if you are in a big group this will be very cost effective.Get back to me on nicwambo@yahoo.com with all this info, and i will sort you out.

Hi,the information you've given is not adequate. You don't say how many other people want to travel with you and how many days. Also state the particular areas you would want to visit e.g.masai mara,Amboseli etc. This will determine your actual budget because different rates apply to different destinations.Date of your intended safari is also very important. This helps one to know whether your time of safari will be in low or high season and what rates apply at that particular time.Lastly, tour operators enjoy contract rates with hotels and lodges hence will give you reasonable pricing. Therefore, until you clarify the above information,I can't say for sure whether your budget of usd 150 per person maybe per day is ok or not.
For more information, mail me at-kuria@africa1900safaris.com.
Thanks.

Depneing on which part of kenya you want to visit and how long, $150 should serve you better but not in a reputable safari.maybe you try western Kenya tourist circuit...its still cheap to see the lake, travel the islands, go to kakamega forest, enjoy village liofe with locals......

i will organize a two nights trip to the famous maasai mara game reserve where i would require a number of 22 persons,@$150, this will include park fee, picknic lunch for a full day safari trip'dinner, breakfirst and lunch as well accommodation in a tenteded camp with hot showers, and intent flush toilets. the number has to be at least 22persons to cover transport costs because we can use a four wheel safari truck...for more information contact me on my email i.e jackykioko2009@yahoo.com or mobile +254724913934.thankx

Thank you for your question. Honestly a tour company is the best for you for such an activity. Tour companies enjoy discounted rates from Hotels and Lodges and Air lines against Rack rates. Your budget is ok and will depend on the services you want to be provided with such as air ticketing, hotel booking,Safari among others. However I can be able to assist you if you could provide me with the following information:
-Where you are coming from
-An idea of place you would love to visit
-How many you are...Please note that the more you are the cheaper it is
-When you expect to visit the country...Rates vary with seasons...High season, low season, Easter season and chrismas season etc all the following seasons have unique rates.
-please also indicate if you are Citizens from Kenya,Residents or Foreigners all these enjoy unique/different rates
-indicate also the number of days you would want the safari such as two days one night
-Please also provide all the necessary information that will assist us in organizing your safari we will then be able to give you a package within you budget.
Please revert to me on:info@arclaystravelsolutions.com...or kim@arclaystravelsolutions.com

Tour companies are indeed your best option. However, do not settle for price alone, as that might jeopardize the quality of your safari...
Some tips & tricks to keep the costs of your safari down:
* travel low season if possible
* travel back to basic, e.g. camping instead of lodging
* do not only visit the obvious highlights, like the national parks (Masai Mara etc), as costs for these kinds of safaris cannot be cut down too much due to high entree fees - if you alternate with destinations that are unique but do not require high entry fees (e.g. active activities like hiking - also welcome because it offers a change from the lazy seated wildlife watching), you should be able to travel within the stated budget
* travel by road - also a good way to experience the Kenyan way of life while on the road
* travel in a group, to share some of the costs, like vehicle hire, petrol and guide/driver/cook services
I will be happy to develop a detailed, budget friendly itinerary for you. Visit www.lokenjen.info to get some ideas.

Get in touch with a private tour guide that knows about the area you want to tour & hire a car..
That will be cost effective but Safari companies are the better option because you can travel as a group which is more interesting..

The problem with using an individual to organize your holiday, is that there is no guarantee that you're not getting taken for a ride. There are alot of people who will advertise their individual services, take your money and run.
If you don't want to use a tour company, get yourself a lonely planet, Brandt guide, or rough guide to Kenya, and organize it yourself. There are many people who do it, and have a great time. They spend a minimum amount of money, know what warning signs to look out for with con-men and come home happy. Those guide books are full of useful information and warnings.

Safari companies are the best in that they provide security and are more familiar with so many places however, they are very expensive. An alternative is to go for a localyte member to take you round. S/he is always negotiable.
