Hi,
November to March is the best season to visit most of India.if you are a first time visitor,I would suggest Rajasthan and North India.Even South India would be at it's best vis-a-vis the temperature and weather. Some parts of the country, specially the mountains can be a bit chilly.

So, I suggest, you decide what activity you wish to carry out, what kind of places you wish to visit. Only then can anyone be more specific in responding to your question. Remember, India is a very large/big country (more than 6 times that of France), hence, it is very necessary to have an idea of what one wishes to do here and what one wishes to visit.

Once you have come to some sort of a decision,do write to me and I shall be glad to provide you with detailed information and advise.

November is the starting of tour season and the ideal time to trave to any destination in India

you can also think of doing South India trip starting from Chennai - mahabalipuram ( Heritage and beaches) - Pondichricherry - Trichy ( temple and fort) - Madurai ( temples) - Thekkady ( nature reserve) - Munnar ( Hill station ) - Cochin ( heritage and shopping) - (Backwaters ) Kumarakom - Kovalam (beaches)

you can start the trip from Chennai and end the holiday on the Kovalm beach and leave for home from Trivandrum

you have to cover INDIA in parts ...... really speaking atleast 4 to 5 parts ...... each trip about 2 weeks long ..... that is to do justice to INDIA ....

if you have totally 2 weeks and just want to touch base at several locations, it is a different matter ....

better to start with north - AGRA - TAJMAHAL ..... which is absolutely must see for every tourist and few locations around amritsar - golden temple / delhi / jaipur / jodhpur / jaisalmer / mount abu .... 2 weeks will be over .......

Nov to March is the winter season in india and most of the country is worth visiting during this season except deeper himalayas. I t depends what you are into as a person because india has a lot to offer.
1. you could try the golden triangle, Delhi Jaipur Agra if you love heritage and monuments.
2. North eastern states for wildlife, culture, and mountains.
3. Bombay, Goa for the beaches and parties
4. Lakshwadweep (island of the western coast)
5.In the south kerala

November is a great time to come to india.
write to me for any help if needed.

November can be quite cold if you decide to hit the mountains up Norh. Temperatures could dip under 7 in most places apart from the foothills which should be pleasant with just the right amount of nip in the air.

But depending on the time you have at hand, you could try travelling from the North down South, and no better way to travel than on a motorcycle.

Delhi - Rajasthan - Gujarat - Maharashtra - Goa - rest of South India, with the ride ending in Cochin.

Lemme know how this sounds... as I can help you in making this happen.

I would suggest you to go into the Hills of Northern India if you like cold weather during Novermber 2009 as during that time its off-season out there and you would find everything very easily & cheap rates too with very few people around that destination too.

You can plan to visit Kashmir (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Sonmarg etc.), Himachal (Shimla, Manali etc.), Uttarakhand (Nainital, Ranikhet, Almora, Kausani, Mukteshwar, Mussoorie, Pithoragarh), Sikkim (Gangtok) or go to Darjeeling (in West Bengal) as it would be a life-time experience for you to remember your visit to such places.

If you like Beaches (Sun & Sand) then go to Goa, Pondicherry, Kerala (Kovalam Beach) during that time.

Hi,
I would give first preference to Rajasthan for a visit in November because after that it would be really chilly & otherwise it we scorching in the sun.
You can also visit Orissa as this place is full of natural beauty with beautiful beaches & jungles & tribal areas.

Assam / Meghalaya / Arunachal Pradesh / Andamans... these places are lovely in November. It all depends on...
1. Time in hand
2. Amount of Money you wish to spend
3. Things you wish to see / do.

If you can answer these 3 questions, then I can get in to the specifics for sure.

Hunh??? ganges in full flow in November/December??? Hey friend, this is North India and not Bangalore...
The water level at Triveni/Sangam is never more than three feet.. I should know as I have grown up there... Please be clear and truthful and n case you are not sure, keep shut... sorry for sounding so brusque, but thats how it is..

Nasir Bhai,

The question asked here is about India and not Pakistan or any other place... So let us be honest and answer accordingly.. I agree totally with you about visiting Lahore/Punjab... What a lovely area with so much to see... but as "experts" let's be honest to ourselves..

North India is beautiful in november, but many people travelling in the north this time of the year start heading south. If you decide to visit north, Almora and Rishikesh are a must! It depends on what you are looking for, Almora for peace and nature and Rishikesh for workshops, yoga and any kind of teachings.

Most of India is pleasant in Nov.Depending on which part of the country you are visiting, you could try Agra, Jaipur and the rest of Rajasthan, which should be cool at that time of the year.

If you're travelling the south of India, the Nilgiri's will be lovely and so will most of Kerala.

Priya and Tarun, How can so called experts be so silly?? It is so exhasperating/frustrating to get such suggestions. Thanks for short and clear answers... Rishikesh is a good options but personally I feel for a first time visitor to India Rajasthan plus Agra remains the best bet.. Otherwise, India being so vast, one has got to read up and then decide as most of the country is good to visit during November..

Put aside Kerala-Himachal and North East in November.

Visit places in November which you cant cover in the summer. Hit the coastline. Beaches of Goa, Karnataka, Maharasthra, TN and AP are worth visiting over weekends. For extended stays consider Rajasthan and MP. MP is beautiful in this season and you can visit the palaces and forts which are otherwise a pain to visit in the summer months.

I do agree with Suez Akram...around November weather all over india is at its best except the hills which are too chilly and many places are not accessible.Southern india which can get too hot and humid during the rest of the year is ideal to visit during this part of the year.Delhi.Rajasthan,Chattisgarh,Gujarat and maharashtra ..the list is long. So take your pick and plan your visit ! Do remember to take expert opinion and help while planning your itinary.
