Hi, we will be staying in Playa del Coco, Guanacaste in July for 2 weeks. While we are there, we would love to visit Nicaragua...
Web
...(Granada, Lake Nicaragua and Masaya are some places that we are interested in seeing). We are renting a car but I know you can't take rental cars in to Nicaragua. Does anyone know of any such day tours or can you recommend anyone to us? Being so close to Nicaragua,we would really love to visit while we are in Costa Rica. I thank you in advance for any help or suggestions that you can give to us. By the way, it will be my husband and I along with our 6 year old son. Thanks so much!! :-) Sorry if this is a repeated post but I am still learning how to make such post!! :-)

This is not hard at all to accommodate, a trip from Guanacaste to Nicaragua in one day can easily be arranged. What you can do is drive your car to the border park it there and go do the one day tour of Nicaragua, i can offer the following:
- 7:30am pick up at the Cost Rican - Nicaraguan border (Penas Blancas)
- Entrance fee to the San Francisco Church and Museum.
- Entrance fee to La Merced Church tower for a magnificent view of Granada
- Boat ride around Las Isletas (Lake Nicaragua)
- Visit to the San Pablo fort
- Visit to Monkey Island
- Entrance fee to the Masaya Volcano
- Visit to the masaya Arts and Crafts Market
- Visit to the town fo Catarina
- English speaking tour guide from and to the border.
All of this can be done for US$225.00 border fees and meals are not included. Please feel free to email me for any further information, if you will like references about my services go to www.tripadvisor.com and type in Rodolfo Ortega on the search bar. My personal email is rodolfo.nicaragua@hotmail.com i will be more than glad to show what Nicaragua is like.

I would love to give you a personal tour but I am only available 15, 22, and 29 of this month for the one day tour if you do it private it is going to be a bit expensive, but I dont recomend a sheep turism bus since you might need to take unprogramed stop with your son.
if you pay for your entrances and meals it might be a total of $180 for the three of you that is not uncluded border crossing fees but if you want all the museums National parks and meals included would be a total $230 the day trip starting @ 8:00 at the Nicaraguan side of the border I will take you to lake Nicaragua, lake, Apoyo Masaya artisian kraft market an Volcanoe and the saint franciss convent in one day being back at the border at 17:30, I hope this helps.

I have had excellent feedback from guest of mine who have used them. Also, when in Granada think about renting a house rather than staying in a hotel. There about 40 beautifully renovated colonial homes available for rent in the city, and most of them are standing empty at the moment - so you should be able to negotiate a good deal. This is the website of the people who manage the best rental homes in Granada- http://www.gpsnicaragua.com/
And if you would like to see a Nicaraguan beach, you'll be very welcome to come and stay in our rental unit. We are located in a resort called Hacienda Iguana and just minutes from what I believe to be Nicaragua's most beautiful beach. http://nicaragua365.com/Rentals/10-02-02/Arbolito_Viejo.aspx
Have a great trip, I'm sure you'll love Nicaragua!

If you are staying for 2 weeks in Playa el Coco, you should come to Nicaragua for more than just one day. I suggest that you come for 2 or 3 days. The first day you can visit Rivas, and San Juan del Sur beach, one of our most beautiful beaches! The second day you can go to Granada, Masaya, Catarina and also visit the Masaya Volcano. And if you want a third day I will suggest that you visit Managua. Or you can make the trip any way you like it, fix it your way to visit only the places you want, we are here to please our visitors. :).
You, your husband and your son will love Nicaragua. I hope my answer helps you, and hope to hear soon about you.
Enjoy your vacations! :-)!
